The Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH WV CHD), through the Provincial DOH Officeโ€“Capiz convened health partners and stakeholders from the public and private sectors during the Universal Health Care (UHC) Forum on October 6, 2026, at Circulo Hotel Inc., Roxas City.

The forum brought together health partners to share experiences and strengthen collaboration in implementing UHC in the province. Doc Alex T. Nolasco, Provincial Health Officer II, served as one of the resource speakers for โ€œBridging the Network: Lessons and Experiences from the Field,โ€ where he shared the Capiz Province-wide Health System and its efforts to improve health services and coordination.

The forum also featured the experiences of Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital and Optiquest Inspira Health Venture, Inc., highlighting the importance of working together across public and private health sectors to provide better health services for every Capisnon.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the DOH WV CHD and PDOHO - Capiz for providing a platform that brings health partners together which encourages the sharing of field experiences and strengthens collaboration toward the effective implementation of Universal Health Care in the province.

The Capiz Provincial Government under the esteemed leadership of Governor Fredenil H. Castro and Provincial Health Office led by Doc Alex T. Nolasco, continues to work with the Department of Health WV CHD led by Dr. Mar Wynn Bello and PDOHO led by Dr. Mary Joy D. Castroverde toward the development of the 100-bed, Level II Capiz General Hospital in Brgy. Malag-it, Pontevedra, Capiz.

The โ‚ฑ100 million initial DOH funding will help initiate the construction of the hospital, with the Provincial Government of Capiz, under the leadership of Gov. Castro, leading its implementation.

We deeply recognize the efforts of Capiz 1st District Representative Cong. Ivan Howard Guintu, whose initiative and persistent support helped advance this project, including the provision of the proposed 1.2-hectare hospital site in Brgy. Malag-it, Pontevedra, Capiz.

The Capiz General Hospital marks an important step toward expanding access to quality, accessible, and responsive hospital services for Capisnon.

Two retired dentists of the Provincial Health Office, ๐——๐—ฟ. ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐˜‚๐—น ๐—ฆ๐˜๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ป ๐—๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐——๐—ฟ. ๐—š๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—บ๐—ฎ ๐—•๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ฎ, were honored during the ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐— ๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐˜‚๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฒ ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฏ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป in recognition of their years of service to public health.

The two retirees were presented with plaques of appreciation and tokens as a tribute to their valuable contributions to the delivery of oral health services and to the communities they served.

Their years of service have been part of the continuing work to promote and protect the health of Capisnon.

As they begin a new chapter beyond government service, the Provincial Government under the esteemed leadership of Governor Fredenil H. Castro through PHO led by Doc Alex Nolasco expresses its gratitude and wishes them good health, fulfillment, and happiness in the years ahead.

The Capiz Provincial Health Office led by Doc Alex Nolasco, in close coordination with the Regional To***co Control Network, recently conducted a comprehensive validation of the implementation of the Smoke-Free and Vape-Free Ordinance in the municipalities of Sigma and Dumarao.

The evaluation highlighted the accomplishments and sustained commitment of the following municipalities:

Municipality of Sigma โ€“ Evaluated for its 3rd-Year compliance and continued status as a Hall of Famer Awardee, demonstrating its sustained commitment to maintaining a smoke-free and v**e-free environment.
Municipality of Dumarao โ€“ Evaluated for its 1st-Year milestone implementation, marking an important step toward strengthening to***co and v**e control initiatives in the municipality.

The Capiz Provincial Health Office commends the Local Chief Executives, Hon. Dante Rizal A. Eslabon of the Municipality of Sigma and Hon. Mateo C. Hachuela of the Municipality of Dumarao, for their strong leadership and unwavering commitment to protecting their constituents from the harmful effects of to***co and v**e use.

The PHO likewise recognizes the invaluable contributions of Dr. Maria Teresa Gallardo-Tan, Municipal Health Officer of Sigma, and Dr. Maridel Fuentes, Municipal Health Officer of Dumarao, together with the PCF staff, local government personnel, and other stakeholders, whose dedication and collaborative efforts continue to strengthen the implementation of smoke-free and v**e-free policies at the local level.

Monday marked more than just the start of a new week, it sparked a day full of insights for the PHO staff.

The Capiz Provincial Health Office led by Doc Alex Nolasco held its ๐—ช๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ธ๐—น๐˜† ๐— ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐— ๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด with Division Heads, Assistant Division Heads, Program Managers, and Administrative Staff.

The meeting included the introduction of new PHO personnel and their roles and responsibilities. Program updates were also presented to ensure alignment and coordination across different divisions and programs.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen teamwork, coordination, and service for every Capisnon.
