Sagada, Mountain Province โ The residents of barangay Tanulong have demonstrated how collective effort, strengthened by responsive government support, can bring meaningful change to a community. Through the implementation of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, a pathway to progress is being builtโliterally and figurativelyโfor the benefit of students, residents, and the entire community.
Implemented in partnership with the BLGU-Tanulong, Sagada, the TUPAD program provided a 30-day temporary employment opportunity to 50 beneficiaries, enabling them to contribute to essential community improvement initiatives within their locality.
Their accomplishment includes riprapping and leveling of the road leading to Tanulong Elementary School. Equipped with basic tools and unwavering determination, the workers cleared debris, transported rocks, and improved the uneven terrain to create a safer and more accessible route for students, teachers, and residents.
Despite the physically demanding nature of the work, beneficiaries carried out their tasks with dedication and enthusiasm. Men and women are working side by side, embodying teamwork and shared responsibility. The worksite became a place not only of labor but also of camaraderie, as laughter and cooperation strengthened the sense of community among participants.
Beyond providing temporary livelihood, TUPAD gave beneficiaries an opportunity to contribute something lasting to their barangay. Today, the ongoing improvement of the road stands as a visible testament to what can be achieved when communities unite with purpose and government support works hand in hand with local initiatives. In Tanulong, the impact of TUPAD is evidentโa safer, stronger, and more connected community for all. /Gu/
