Sagada, Mountain Province. β€” Newly designated National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) – Sagada District Office Chief Atty. Fabienne Paculan Matib paid a courtesy visit to Municipal Mayor Felicito O. Dula on August 17, 2026.

The visit provided an opportunity for the Municipality of Sagada and the NBI to discuss the operations and services of the NBI Sagada District Office, which is intended to serve residents of Sagada and the entire Mountain Province.

Atty. Matib shared that the district office will help make NBI services more accessible to residents who previously had to travel to Baguio for transactions. These services include NBI clearance, legal assistance, case investigation, and forensic services.

As part of the Municipality’s support for the establishment and operation of the district office, the Municipal Government of Sagada will temporarily assign an office space within its municipal properties for use by the NBI while arrangements for its permanent operational requirements are being made.

Mayor Dula welcomed Atty. Matib to Sagada and expressed the Municipality’s support and cooperation in initiatives that will improve access to government services and strengthen coordination between the NBI and local government units.

The Municipality of Sagada looks forward to working with the NBI Sagada District Office in bringing responsive and accessible public services closer to the people of Mountain Province.

PLGU welcomes NBI Sagada District Office chief

Bontoc β€” The Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Mountain Province welcomed Atty. Fabienne Paculan Matib, the newly designated chief of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Sagada District Office during the Monday Program on August 17, 2026.

Matib, a native of Mountain Province and daughter of former Barlig Mayor Aloysious Matib and retired teacher, Judith P. Matib of Natonin and Barlig, expressed her gratitude for the warm reception as she begins her new assignment in the province.

β€œI am happy that I am here and I am home,” Matib said, emphasizing her desire to return to her roots and serve the people of Mountain Province.

Matib explained that while the office is officially named the NBI Sagada District Office, its intended coverage includes Mountain Province. The office was named after Sagada after the municipality expressed its intention to host the NBI district office.

Matib is not new to NBI leadership. She previously served as the pioneer chief of the NBI Alaminos District Office in Pangasinan, which was established three years ago. The NBI Sagada District Office, meanwhile, was created two years ago.

With her assignment in Alaminos now completed, Matib said she accepted the challenge of returning home and serving her "kakailiyans."

Matib underscored clients from Mountain Province no longer have to travel far to Baguio to obtain NBI clearance now that the NBI Sagada District Office is operational. She expressed hope that, with the support of the local governments, the clearance center can be opened in Bontoc in the near future.

Aside from NBI clearances, Matib informed that the district office will also be able to assist clients with other NBI-related services. These include legal advice, further investigation of cases, and forensic services such as exhumation, autopsy, fingerprint collection and DNA services.

As she begins her new assignment, Matib thanked the people of Mountain Province for the warm welcome.

β€œI am happy I am here, I am home and thank you for the warm welcome,” she said.
