ALGAMP hosts forum on recent BIR tax reforms
Bontoc - The Association of Local Government Accountants of Mountain Province (ALGAMP) spearheaded a one-day forum on the recent tax administration reforms issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) at the Multi-Purpose Hall on March 18, 2025.
The forum brought together selected employees who are in charge of the financial transactions from the different offices of the Provincial Government and Municipal Accounting Offices of the ten municipal local government units (LGUs) of Mountain Province as well as auditors from the Commission on Audit and barangay treasurers of the different barangay LGUs of Mountain Province.
In his welcome remarks, ALGAMP President and Provincial Accountant Theodore B. Marrero expressed his appreciation to all the attendees's positive response to the invitation. He underscored their their attendance and active participation to such undertaking has contributed greatly for Mountain Province and its ten municipalities to achieve the Seal of Goof Financial Housekeeping from the Department of Interior and Local Government.
Subsequently, Provincial Administrator John K. Likigan, Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr., pointed out how an information dissemination activity such as the forum is beneficial in improving the participant's understanding on the BIR tax processes.
Meanwhile, the discussions were facilitated by a team of speakers from the BIR namely, Bonalyn B. Pekley, Jovelyn K. Dagad-ay, Jasminia P. Kolingan, Eufemia T Bognalen, and Jose C. Yango. They discussed the pertinent provisions of the recently issued Revenue Regulations (RR) numbers 4, 11 and 17 series of 2024.
The RR No. 4-2024 focuses on the implementation of various sections of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997 as amended by Section 47 of the Republic Act No. 11976, otherwise known as the Ease of Paying Taxes Act. The RR Nos. 11 and 17-2024, on the other hand, are centered on the invoicing requirements and issuances and presentation of tax clearance prior to financial settlement of government contracts, respectively.
The forum concluded with the awarding of certificates and tokens to the guests and closing message from Vice Governor Francis O. Tauli who, on behalf on all the participants, expressed his gratitude and commendation to the speakers from the BIR, organizers from the ALGAMP, and participants from the different government offices. He stated that the conduct of the forum is timely and essential for providing clarity and minimizing or preventing any errors in tax computation and processes.
