Another day, another fire, another grassland burned, another forest on fire. Another call for help. And still, of course, we respond.
We walk into smoke, into heat, into danger, doing everything we can to stop what continues to rise, day after day. We leave our homes to face flames that should have never started. Salamat isnan bumala ay bumadang, nu sik-a es nan nangikkan, ibagam adi galod dakat adi aped taynan.
Day turns into night and night turns into day.
We fight for hours, sometimes more than 24 โ hoping the fire will finally end. But before we can even eat, another call comes: โSir/Maโam, the fire has rekindled or โSir/Maโam, the fire is approaching the houses." And sometimes, on the other end of the line, we hear fear, even tears.
Another barangay. Another emergency. And we quietly ask ourselves, when will this end? Because many of these fires are not accidents.
They start from simple acts- open flames left unattended, bonfires and burning of trash, kaingin, agricultural land clearing, etc.
We understand tradition. We understand livelihood. But must it come at this cost?Mountains once full of life are now turning into ashes. The air we breathe is heavy with smoke.
Wildlife is losing its home. Communities are being placed in danger. It's been weeks already.
And when the fire grows, you call us and we come. Always. But here is the painful truth: We cannot win a battle that keeps being restarted.
We extinguish one fire, another rises. We save one area, another is put at risk. Isnan adi mi marespondean gapo tay mensabsabay nan suppression, menbibinadangan tako, salamat isnan badang yo, isnan panaka-awat yo.

Because a small flame is never just small. It spreads,it destroys and it endangers lives. This is not just the firefightersโ battle. This is everyoneโs responsibility.
Help us break this cycle. Help us protect our forests, our communities, our future. Let us not wait until EVERYTHING turns to ash before we act. Ay enggana maidet mabati? ๐ญ
Another day does not have to mean another fire. Let the mountains live. Let the air clear.
Let the fires end. ๐
