Senior High School Students Participate in βRainbow Step: A Glimpse of Hope β A Step to Rememberβ

In support of the 2026 Pride Month Celebration and the promotion of an inclusive and safe learning environment, Judge Leopoldo B. Gironella Sr. College joins the symposium entitled "Rainbow Step: A Glimpse of Hope β A Step to Rememberβ on June 25, 2026, after regular class hours. The activity was spearheaded by the Local Government Unit of Salcedo in partnership with various agencies and attended by Senior High School students.
The symposium was conducted in line with DepEd Memorandum No. 041, s. 2026, titled β2026 Pride Month Celebration in the Department of Education,β which encourages schools and education stakeholders to undertake meaningful activities that promote diversity, inclusion, respect, and the well-being of learners. Guided by the theme βDepEdβs Pride: Where Every Identity Belongs,β the celebration underscores the Departmentβs commitment to fostering a learning environment where every learner is welcomed, respected, and valued regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression (SOGIE).
During the activity, resource speakers facilitated informative sessions on Teenage Pregnancy Awareness, HIV-AIDS Awareness, and SOGIE 101 Awareness. These discussions aimed to equip learners with accurate information, strengthen health awareness, encourage responsible decision-making, and promote respect for diversity among the youth.
The conduct of the HIV-AIDS Awareness Session also aligns with the Department of Educationβs call to strengthen awareness campaigns on HIV prevention and education, recognizing the importance of addressing health concerns affecting young people today. Meanwhile, the SOGIE 101 session provided learners with a better understanding of gender diversity, inclusivity, and the significance of creating respectful and discrimination-free spaces within schools and communities.
Students actively participated in the discussions and learning activities, demonstrating openness and engagement in understanding issues related to health, identity, and social responsibility. The symposium served as an avenue for meaningful dialogue and reflection, helping learners appreciate the values of empathy, acceptance, and respect for human dignity.
