Inasagan, Salvador, Lanao del Norte. The ceremony was presided over by Major General Ronel R. Manalo, Philippine Army, Commander, Armor Division, Philippine Army, and witnessed by Brigadier General William George S. Cordova, Philippine Army, Assistant Division Commander, 1st Infantry Division, Philippine Army; Brigadier General Bernardo A. Taqueban, Philippine Army, Commander, 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Armor Division, Philippine Army; Lieutenant General Mayoralgo M. Dela Cruz (Ret), Philippine Army, Former Commander, Armor Division; Local Chief Executives of the Province of Lanao del Norte headed by Honorable Allan J. Lim, Provincial Vice Governor; military personnel, government officials, partner stakeholders, and distinguished guests.
The ceremony marked the formal transfer of authority and responsibility to the new Acting Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Filemon I. Tan Jr., reaffirming the Battalion's commitment to disciplined leadership, organizational continuity, and sustained mission readiness in support of the Philippine Army's mandate of serving the people and securing the land.
In his speech, Lieutenant Colonel Tan emphasized the leadership principles embodied in TANโTrust, Adaptable, and Nurtureโaligned with Major General Manalo's RRM core values of Respect, Relevance, and Mettle. He underscored that trust strengthens unity within the organization, adaptability enables the Battalion to respond effectively to evolving operational challenges, and nurturing develops competent, disciplined, and values-driven soldiers committed to mission accomplishment.
In his keynote message, Major General Manalo fondly recalled his tenure as the Battalion Commander of the 5th Mechanized Infantry (Kaagapay) Battalion, sharing the experiences, challenges, and milestones that shaped his leadership journey. He expressed pride in the Battalion's enduring culture of discipline, professionalism, and dedication to mission accomplishment, emphasizing that these values have remained the foundation of the unit's continued success. He encouraged every Kaagapay Trooper to uphold these traditions of excellence while embracing the responsibility of serving the people with integrity and commitment.
Major General Manalo also called on the local chief executives, partner agencies, and stakeholders to continue their unwavering support and close collaboration with the Kaagapay Battalion. He emphasized that the strong partnership between the military, local government units, and various sectors has been instrumental in sustaining peace, security, and development initiatives throughout Lanao del Norte, and remains vital in addressing future challenges and fostering resilient communities.
The ceremony concluded with the Kaagapay Battalion's renewed commitment to professionalism, operational excellence, and meaningful collaboration with government agencies, local government units, and community stakeholders in advancing peace, security, and development throughout its area of responsibility.
