๐—Ÿ๐—”๐—ก๐—”๐—ข ๐——๐—˜๐—Ÿ ๐—ก๐—ข๐—ฅ๐—ง๐—˜โ€“ On 28โ€“29 August 2026, the 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Filemon I. Tan Jr., Acting Commanding Officer, provided security and transportation assistance during the food pack distribution conducted in the municipalities of Maigo, Bacolod, and Tangcal, Lanao del Norte.

The humanitarian activity was initiated by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and led by Ms. Rowella Q. Binobo, Assistant Lead, WMSO, Office of the Vice President, in partnership with JCIโ€“Lanao del Norte, represented by Ms. Modesta C. Buendia.

Throughout the activity, personnel of the 5Mech Bn worked alongside partner organizations and local stakeholders to help ensure that the distribution was conducted safely, peacefully, and in an orderly manner. The Battalion also provided transportation assistance, helping facilitate the movement of personnel and resources and ensuring the efficient delivery of food packs to the intended beneficiaries.

The activity reached various beneficiaries, including members of the M**F 125th Base Command and residents from surrounding communities. Beyond the provision of food assistance, the initiative provided an opportunity to bring people together and demonstrate how cooperation among government institutions, civic organizations, peace stakeholders, and local communities can help bring essential assistance closer to those who need it.

The participation of the 5Mech Bn reflects its continuing commitment to supporting humanitarian and community-centered initiatives. By working closely with various stakeholders, the Battalion helps create a safe and supportive environment where government services and humanitarian programs can be delivered effectively and peacefully.

For the men and women of the 5Mech Bn, service goes beyond security operations. It also means being present when communities need assistance, supporting partners in reaching the people, and fostering relationships built on trust, respect, cooperation, and shared commitment to peace and development.

As the Battalion continues to serve the people of Lanao del Norte, it remains committed to being a reliable partner in initiatives that promote peace, security, humanitarian assistance, and community development.

๐—Ÿ๐—”๐—ก๐—”๐—ข ๐——๐—˜๐—Ÿ ๐—ก๐—ข๐—ฅ๐—ง๐—˜โ€“ For the men and women of the 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, keeping communities safe is not just a responsibilityโ€”it is a commitment to the people they serve.

Under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Filemon I. Tan Jr., Acting Commanding Officer, the Battalion continues to maintain a visible security presence across the thirteen (13) municipalities within its Area of Operations through mobile patrols, show of force, and checkpoint operations.

These activities are part of the Battalionโ€™s ongoing efforts to keep communities peaceful and secure, prevent potential threats, and provide residents with a sense of safety as they go about their daily lives.

While Lanao del Norte is not part of the BARMM Parliamentary Elections, the Battalion remains ready and vigilant in support of the broader peace and security efforts in neighboring areas during the election period. Through close coordination with local government units, the Philippine National Police, partner agencies, and community leaders, the unit continues to work with stakeholders to address security concerns and maintain a peaceful environment.

For every soldier on patrol, the mission goes beyond simply being present. It is about being there when the community needs them, building trust with the people, and doing their part to preserve the peace that communities deserve.

The Battalion believes that lasting security is built not only through readiness and vigilance, but also through cooperation, understanding, and strong relationships with the people.

As it continues to serve the province, the 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion remains committed to performing its duties with professionalism, discipline, respect for human rights, and genuine concern for the communities it serves.
