Please be informed that 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗼 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 will be temporarily 𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗘𝗗 on 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 9, 2026 (𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆) in observance of 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿.

The temporary closure is in consideration of the various activities lined up for the celebration, including the Araw ng Barangay Adecor Parade, which will take place within the area.

The City Investment and Tourism Office (CITO) successfully conducted the 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 on 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 30, 2026, at the 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗸, bringing together presidents from various tourism-related associations in the Island Garden City of Samal.

The meeting served as a venue for dialogue, coordination, and collaboration between the City Government and the local tourism industry, with discussions focused on the status of tourism associations, issues and concerns affecting the sector, and tourism stakeholders’ bridge readiness.

The discussions provided stakeholders with an opportunity to raise concerns, share insights, and identify matters requiring further coordination and intervention.

Following the meeting, CITO will consolidate and prepare a report on the issues and concerns raised by the tourism stakeholders. The office will also coordinate with the concerned local government offices and relevant agencies to address the identified concerns.

A follow-up forum will be scheduled to facilitate a more focused discussion with the concerned offices and agencies and to determine appropriate actions and possible interventions.

The meeting emphasized the City Government’s commitment to maintaining an open and collaborative dialogue with tourism stakeholders as the city continues to strengthen its tourism industry and promote a more coordinated and responsive tourism sector.

The Local Government Unit of the Island Garden City of Samal (LGU-IGACOS) through the City Investment and Tourism Office (CITO) in partnership with Department of Tourism XI (DOT XI)successfully conducted the 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗙𝗕𝗦𝗘) 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 29, 2026, 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗣 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹, as part of the City’s 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 2026 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

The training was conducted in two sessions—morning and afternoon—to accommodate the participating personnel and job starters from various offices and establishments. 𝗝𝗼𝗷𝗶 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼-𝗔𝗻𝗴, FBSE Regional Trainer, who facilitated the modules “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿 and 𝗙𝗕𝗦𝗘 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆” 𝗮𝗻𝗱 “𝗧𝗵𝗲 7𝗠𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.” The sessions emphasized the importance of delivering quality, culture-based, and customer-centered service, particularly among individuals who directly interact with tourists and the public.

The FBSE training forms part of LGU-IGACOS continuing efforts to develop a 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲-𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 and strengthen the city’s commitment to providing warm, professional, and distinctly Filipino hospitality to visitors.

The City Investment and Tourism Office (CITO) continued its capacity-building initiatives for the City Government’s Department Information Point Persons (DIPPs) through the successful conduct of the 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙎𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙡: 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙢 𝙑𝙞𝙨𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙝𝙞𝙘 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙥 on 𝙎𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 29, 2026, at the 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙃𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙍𝙤𝙤𝙛 𝘿𝙚𝙘𝙠.

The one-day capacity-building activity aims to equip the DIPPs with practical knowledge and skills in creating compelling visual content for tourism promotion and government communication.

The activity featured 𝑴𝒔. 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒍𝒐𝒖 “𝑱𝒐𝒋𝒊𝒆” 𝑭. 𝑨𝒍𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒂, a Davao-based journalist, multi-awarded photographer, writer, and artist, as the resource speaker. With her extensive experience in photography, journalism, and visual storytelling, Ms. Alcantara shared valuable insights on how images and words can work together to tell compelling stories and effectively communicate the beauty and identity of a destination.

The participants explored the fundamentals of 𝒕𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒎 𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒖𝒂𝒍 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈, including finding and building stories, curating photographs, and developing words that effectively complement visual content. The afternoon sessions focused on graphic design for tourism communication, designing for the Local Government Unit, and an introduction to Canva for content creation.

The workshop forms part of CITO’s continuing efforts to empower DIPPs as content creators and communicators, supporting this year’s Tourism Month theme, “𝘿𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝘼𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙖 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙍𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙢.”

In line with the 34𝘁𝗵 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 2026, themed “𝙁𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝙄𝙣𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙 𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜,” the celebration highlighted the importance of family, togetherness, and meaningful connections.

CITO personnel participated in a short program and fun games, followed by a shared lunch where employees enjoyed good food and conversations. The celebration provided an opportunity for the team to strengthen workplace bonds and create meaningful memories as one CITO family.

𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐢 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬

The Local Government Unit of the Island Garden City of Samal (LGU-IGACOS) through the City Investment and Tourism Office (CITO) successfully conducted the 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗶 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 on 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 23–24, 2026, as part of the City’s 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 2026 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

The two-day exploratory tour focused on identifying and assessing potential diving sites in the coastal areas of 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝘂𝗱𝗺𝘂𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗼𝗻, with the goal of expanding Samal Island’s dive tourism offerings while ensuring the responsible and sustainable use of its marine resources.

Through the collaborative assessment, participants explored potential dive areas and gathered initial observations on the marine environment, site conditions, and tourism potential. The activity also emphasized the importance of marine conservation and resource protection as integral components in the development of new dive destinations.

Future tourism leaders came together for the successful conduct of the 𝙎𝙄𝘾𝘾 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙢 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 (𝘽𝙎𝙏𝙈) 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙢 𝘿𝙖𝙮: “𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙢 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙎𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙡 𝙄𝙨𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙” on 𝙎𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 25, 2026, at the 𝙎𝙄𝘾𝘾 𝘼𝙪𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙪𝙢, as part of the City’s celebration of 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 2026.

The activity brought together BSTM students of Samal Island City College (SICC) for learning, engagement, and meaningful discussions centered on the evolving tourism industry and the role of young professionals in shaping the future of Samal Island’s tourism sector.

One of the highlights of the event was the 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺, whose speaker was 𝐌𝐫. 𝐙𝐨𝐞 𝐒. 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐨, Policy Advocacy Officer of Interfacing Development Interventions for Sustainability (IDIS), Inc. The forum introduced students to the 10𝗥𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆, highlighting practical approaches to resource efficiency, waste reduction, reuse, repair, and other strategies that support more sustainable development.

The condensed presentation of the 𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗰 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲, 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 (𝗞𝗔𝗣) 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱, providing participants with insights into local perspectives and practices related to circular economy principles.

The discussions gave BSTM students a deeper understanding of how sustainability and circular economy approaches can be integrated into tourism development, particularly in an island destination like Samal Island
