Earlier today, Municipal Mayor Nicolas Alameda, CE, MPA warmly welcomed the Palarong Pambansa 2026 Secondary Boys Volleyball Champions from the Mapúa Juniors Volleyball Team-National Capital Region, together with their coach, Ralph Ocampo, as they paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor’s Office.

Adding pride to the Municipality of San Agustin, our very own Terrence Quezada Marticion from Awog, Buatong is one of the team’s outstanding members. Although he was unable to join the team during the Palarong Pambansa 2026, Terrence is currently representing the country as part of the Alas Pilipinas Boys U18 Volleyball Team for training.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the team for their remarkable achievement and wish Terrence continued success as he carries the pride of San Agustin onto the national stage.

The Municipality of San Agustin headed by Mayor Nicolas Alameda, CE, MPA, together with the Office of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development led by Ms. Joji A. Abarca, RSW, proudly received three awards during the Panata Ko sa Bayan Awards held in celebration of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s 75th Anniversary last May 14, 2026 at the DSWD Field Office Caraga.

These recognitions reflect the Municipality’s unwavering commitment in delivering quality social welfare programs and services to the people of San Agustin. Congratulations to the LGU San Agustin and to the entire MSWD Office for this remarkable achievement and continued dedication to public service.

A demonstration farm has been formally established in Barangay Buatong through the initiative and steadfast effort of Mayor Nicolas Alameda, CE, MPA, in coordination with his son, Carlo Alameda. This undertaking is designed to improve the yield of local farmers and strengthen agricultural productivity as a key driver of economic growth and livelihood development.

The project is envisioned not only as a local learning site but as a model farm that will empower farmers across the entire municipality. It will showcase improved farming practices, modern agricultural technologies, and efficient production systems that can be adopted to enhance farm output, increase income, and promote sustainable agriculture.

As part of this milestone, Mayor Alameda personally invited key officials from the Regional Director of the Department of Agriculture, the Provincial Agriculturist, and the Provincial Director of the National Irrigation Administration, strengthening collaboration and ensuring technical support for the success and sustainability of the program.

This initiative reflects a strong commitment to empower not only the farmers of Barangay Buatong, but all farmers across the municipality—building a more resilient, productive, and progressive agricultural sector for the benefit of every farming household.

Earlier today, we came together to celebrate the Farmers’ Field Day on Hybrid Rice Technology Demonstration and the Culmination of Farmers and Fisherfolk Month here in San Agustin, Surigao del Sur.

These two occasions reflect our continued commitment to introduce practical and sustainable agricultural technologies that can help improve productivity and strengthen our farmers’ resilience here in San Agustin. At the same time, they give us the opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to our farmers and fisherfolk, whose dedication and hard work continue to secure our food and sustain our communities, even in the face of challenges and crises.

This meaningful activity was graced by the presence of our Municipal Officials, headed by our Local Chief Executive, Hon. Mayor Nicolas Alameda, CE, MPA, our Sangguniang Bayan Members, our partners from the Davao Oriental Seed Producers Cooperative (DOSEPCO) — Sir Aldelo and Sir Jerwin, our Regional Executive Director of the Department of Agriculture Caraga, Engr. Ricardo Oñate Jr., our Provincial Agriculturist Esmeraldo Raymundo, RAgr., the Division Manager of National Irrigation Administration Surigao del Sur, Engr. This year’s prestigious national sporting event is being hosted by the Province of Agusan del Sur, bringing together young athletes from all over the country in a celebration of excellence, unity, and sportsmanship.

San Agustin stands in full support of this remarkable event that continues to inspire the youth and strengthen camaraderie among regions.

Bretania Islets opened its shores and extended a warm welcome to the delegates of the Palarong Pambansa as they arrived to experience one of Surigao del Sur’s most treasured island destinations, as part of the complimentary tour series of Palarong Pambansa.

Set against the backdrop of crystal-clear waters, pristine white sandbars, and breathtaking island scenery, the delegates embarked on a memorable journey through the natural wonders that make Bretania a true tropical paradise. Guided by local tourism personnel and embraced by the warmth and hospitality of the community, the visit transformed into more than just a tour—it became an experience filled with discovery, appreciation, and meaningful moments.

Beyond the excitement and passion of the games, Bretania offered the delegates an opportunity to pause, explore, and connect with the beauty and spirit of the place. Through every wave, every island view, and every shared smile, visitors were welcomed not only to a destination but to an experience that reflects the pride, culture, and hospitality of the people of San Agustin.
