From Darkness to Resilience:
Groundbreaking Ceremony for the New 2.5 MVA NSLG Substation

After 412 days of enduring an unstable and unreliable power supply, Naval Station Leovigildo Gantioqui marked a significant milestone on 14 April 2026 through the groundbreaking ceremony for the new 2.5 MVA NSLG Substation, spearheaded by Naval Installation and Facilities–Zambales.

Naval Station Leovigildo Gantioqui has long served as a vital installation of the Philippine Navy, playing a crucial role in naval operations and training. Over the years, with the establishment and expansion of the Naval Education and Training Command, the station has evolved into a key training hub, supporting an increasing number of personnel and facilities.

With this growth came a greater demand for a stable and reliable power supply, an essential element in sustaining daily operations. However, on 26 February 2025, an unfortunate fire incident caused significant damage to the substation, severely affecting its normal operations.

Led by the Deputy Commander, Naval Installation Command, CAPT EDWIN B. PRINCILLO PN (GSC), together with the Commander, NIF-Zambales, CAPT RONY KEITH G. MARQUEZ PN (GSC), the ceremony marked a turning point as the unit moves forward from a period of uncertainty toward a future of stability and resilience.

Once completed, the NSLG Substation will serve as the backbone of electrical distribution within the base, ensuring operational continuity, regulating voltage, and safeguarding systems from electrical disruptions..
