𝐎𝐒𝐇𝐂 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝟏𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐊𝐊 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠

The Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) recognized outstanding efforts in promoting occupational safety and health (OSH) during the 14th Gawad Kaligtasan at Kalusugan (GKK) Regional Awarding held on October 21, 2026, at Plaza de Castiel Hotel and Spa, San Juan, La Union.

The awarding ceremony highlighted the commitment of establishments and individuals to advancing workplace safety and health, in line with DOLE’s continuing efforts under the leadership of Secretary Francis Tolentino to protect workers and promote their welfare.

Among the awardees, Engr. Miyoshi G. Macusi of North Luzon Renewable Energy Corporation received the OSH Special Award in the Individual Category, recognizing individual contributions to occupational safety and health.

North Luzon Renewable Energy Corporation was also named OSH Regional Winner in the Industry Category, highlighting the company's efforts in promoting workplace safety and health.

Meanwhile, M.S. Catbagan Dental Clinic was recognized as the OSH Regional Champion in the Micro-Enterprise Category, while La Union Thermal Inc. earned the distinction of OSH Regional Champion in the Industry Category.

In her inspirational message, DOLE Regional Director Honorina Dian-Baga expressed heartfelt gratitude to safety officers, health personnel, and OSH committees, recognizing them as the unsung heroes who tirelessly work to protect lives and prevent workplace accidents. She also encouraged employers, workers, and other stakeholders to continue working together in building safer and healthier workplaces, emphasizing that every effort to protect workers brings Region I closer to a future where safety, health, and well-being are always a priority.

Through the GKK Regional Awarding, the OSHC continues to recognize initiatives and practices that advance occupational safety and health, encouraging establishments and individuals to uphold their responsibility to protect workers and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.

Binigyang-diin ni Secretary Francis N. Tolentino ang kahalagahan ng pakikipagtulungan ng DOLE sa World Bank upang matukoy ang mga programa at inisyatibang higit na angkop sa pangangailangan ng mga manggagawang Pilipino.

Aniya, hindi lamang mahalaga ang pagiging kaugnay ng mga programa sa mandato ng DOLE, kundi ang maingat na pagpili ng mga inisyatibang may konkretong maitutulong sa pagtugon sa mga hamon at pagpapabuti ng kalagayan ng mga manggagawa.

The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 1 (DOLE RO1) continues to promote awareness of workers’ rights and freedom of association through capacity-building activities for different sectors, in support of DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino’s thrusts to protect workers’ welfare and strengthen social dialogue.

On October 13, 2026, DOLE RO1 conducted a capacity-building activity for the employees’ sector at Grand Lords Hotel, Calasiao, Pangasinan. The activity focused on freedom of association (FOA), workers’ rights, and the importance of social dialogue in labor-management relations.

The initiative continued on October 15, 2026 at the same venue for security agencies and security guards. The session tackled freedom of association and the implementation of the Omnibus Guidelines on the Exercise of FOA and Civil Liberties for Security Agencies and Security Guards.

Regional Director Honorina Dian-Baga underscored the importance of respecting workers’ rights and fostering constructive relationships among labor and management stakeholders. She also emphasized cooperation and open communication are essential in addressing workplace concerns.

Through these activities, DOLE RO1 continues to strengthen stakeholders’ understanding of freedom of association and encourage responsible labor-management engagement in support of fair and harmonious workplaces.

Tinalakay ni Labor Secretary Francis N. Tolentino sa isang panayam ang apat na labor advisories na nakatakdang ilabas ng DOLE bilang paghahanda sa epekto ng El Niño.

Kabilang dito ang kompensasyon para sa mga manggagawang makararanas ng work-related heat illnesses, proteksyon para sa delivery riders, mga patakaran sa pagtatrabaho batay sa heat index tulad ng flexible work arrangements, at paggamit ng angkop na kasuotan sa panahon ng matinding init.

Binigyang-diin din ni Sec. Tolentino ang kahalagahan ng kaligtasan at kalusugan ng mga manggagawa sa gitna ng tumataas na temperatura.
