On May 25, 2026, the Department of Science and technology Ilocos Region (DOST Ilocos Region) kicked off the week with a meaningful Flag Raising Ceremony centered on the themes of interdependence and work systems.
During the Value Focus session, Engr. Geraldo P. Ganir discussed the concept of Interdependence, defined as a state wherein two or more individuals, groups, or systems depend on each other for support, resources, or survival. He illustrated this principle using the human body, explaining how all its parts function, move, speak, and think as one. Engr. Ganir emphasized that this concept directly applies to the personnel of DOST Ilocos Region. All units and personnel within the agency work as one unified team and they are all important with different specializations, talents, and expertise to have a successful output. He ended his talk by citing Romans 12:4-5 from the Bible, which states that a body has many members, and not all members have the same function, yet each is essential to the whole.
In the FAStalk segment, Mr. John Allen Boquiren presented the Financial Tracking Reports and Compliance Systems, where he discussed the System Overview, as well as Compliance to Commission on Audit (COA) Audit Observation Memorandum. He explained the features and information contained in the dashboards and reports, clarified data access levels and authorized personnel, and defined roles and responsibilities for managing the system. Mr. Boquiren highlighted that the system promotes full transparency, as all updates and modifications are visible, clearly showing what changes were made and by whom.
Furthermore, Ms. Beverlyn B. Cardinez of the HRM Unit formally welcomed the newest addition to the DOST Ilocos Region family, Ms. Jasmin Bermudez, as a Government Internship Program (GIP) Staff assigned at the Office of the Regional Director (ORD).
The activity concluded with DOST Ilocos Region personnel gained deeper insights into the value of collaboration and shared purpose as part of the DOSTOneSciglat family. DOST Ilocos Region remains committed to serving the community by bringing relevant science, technology, and innovation closer to the people.
