August 17, 2026 โ€” The DTI MIMAROPA Regional Office conducted an initial Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) audit and assessment of selected SMEs in Romblon to evaluate their progress in establishing baseline data and identify ESG hotspots in their operations.

Led by Assistant Regional Director Rodolfo J. Mariposque, CESO IV, the assessment covered the Romblon Cacao Agriculture Cooperative (ROCACO) and Association of Swine and Poultry Raisers of Odiongan (ASPRO) in Odiongan, and ARYA Coconut Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative (ARYA) in Calatrava.

The activity provided the enterprises with inputs for developing action plans that integrate ESG considerations into their current operations, supporting more responsible, resilient, and sustainable business practices.

In Calatrava, the DTI MIMAROPA team also paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Robert โ€œBongโ€ M. Fabella, further strengthening coordination with the local government in promoting sustainable enterprise development.

Through the initiative, DTI MIMAROPA continues to help MSMEs adopt sustainable practices and become more competitive and future-ready.

On July 21, 2026, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) MIMAROPA held a meeting with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) MIMAROPA and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) MIMAROPA to discuss potential areas for collaboration in advancing digitalization and innovation across key sectors in the region.

DTI MIMAROPA Regional Director Amormio CJS Benter met with DOST MIMAROPA Regional Director Bernardo โ€œAidoโ€ N. Sepeda and DICT MIMAROPA Regional Director Emmy Lou V. Delfin, together with their respective representatives, for the alignment meeting.

This inter-agency initiative is guided by Regional Development Council Resolution No. 2026-093-1511, which established the Technical Working Group (TWG) on Innovation in Farming and Fishing in MIMAROPA.

On July 9, 2026, the TWG, chaired by DICT MIMAROPA Regional Director Delfin, convened virtually to discuss and establish the key areas of collaboration.

The proposed convergence projects seek to revolutionize the agriculture, tourism, and transport sectors in the region through the adoption of digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI).

SAN AGUSTIN, Romblon โ€“ Travelers and consumers passing through the D'Sail Port Terminal in Poblacion, San Agustin now have a new reason to stop and explore as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Romblon, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Agustin, officially opened a new One Town, One Product (OTOP) Hub within the terminal.

The One Town, One Product (OTOP) Hub was formally launched today by San Agustin Mayor Aaron James Madrona and DTI Romblon Provincial Director Orville F. Mallorca. As the second OTOP Hub in Romblon, it strengthens market access for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by providing a strategic venue to showcase and promote locally made products from San Agustin and other municipalities across the province.

Located within the D'Sail Port Terminal, the OTOP Hub provides passengers and visitors convenient access to locally made products while giving MSMEs greater market exposure. In addition to San Agustin's specialties, the hub features processed food, delicacies, handicrafts, souvenirs, wearables, home dรฉcor, and other products from MSMEs across Romblon.

In his message, Mayor Aaron James Madrona reaffirmed the LGU's commitment to supporting local enterprises through expanded market opportunities. Provincial Director Orville F. Mallorca highlighted the OTOP Hub as a platform for showcasing the quality and identity of Romblon products while encouraging travelers to support local MSMEs.

The new OTOP Hub supports the OTOP Philippines Program by expanding market access for MSMEs and promoting products with distinct local identity.
