PAF NEWS | STRENGTHENING NATIONAL DEFENSE THROUGH INDUSTRIAL SELF-RELIANCE

During an interview on the sidelines of the 2026 Seoul Defense Dialogue in South Korea last September, Secretary of National Defense Gilberto C. Teodoro, Jr. emphasized the importance of learning from South Korea's strategic approach to industrialization, particularly its investment in basic industries, as a foundation for building a self-reliant defense posture.

The Defense Secretary underscored that a strong domestic industrial base is essential to strengthening defense capabilities, reducing dependence on external sources, and sustaining long-term military modernization.

For the Philippine Air Force, this direction highlights the importance of developing local technical expertise, maintenance and sustainment capabilities, and industrial support systems to enhance operational readiness and support the continuing modernization of the Air Force in safeguarding Philippine airspace and national sovereignty.
