LOOK: On 07 April 2026, Personnel of CGSS San Juan under the Leadership of PO2 Jordan A Barnachea PCG, SOU-NWLZN personnel and San Juan Municipal Fire Station conducted a Lecture regarding Theoritical Awareness Orientation on Boat Handling, On-shore Drowing Management, Rip Current Awareness and Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) and Rubber Boat Maintenance under Intensified Community Assistance, Awareness and Response (ICARE) to the OJT students from Saint Luis College (SLC), Central Ilocandia College of Science and Technology (CICOSAT) and Northern Philippines College of Science and Technology Inc. (NPCMST) 26 Criminology Intern held at Barangay Taboc, San Juan, La Union.

The collaboration between the Philippine Coast Guard and the Bureau of Fire Protection plays a vital role in strengthening Public safety and Emergency response in Coastal and inland communities. Through joint operations, training, and information sharing, both agencies enhance their capabilities in fire suppression, maritime rescue, disaster response, and environmental protection.

๐—Ÿ๐—ข๐—ข๐—ž: Today, 09 April 2026, the Coast Guard District North Western Luzon (CGDNWLZN) together with Coast Guard Auxiliary District Northwestern Luzon (CGAD-NWLZN) participated in the Medical Mission, Veterinary and Circumcision at the covered court of Barangay Bato, City of San Fernando, La Union.

A total of Fifty one (51) indigent individuals were given free medical check up and medicines, forty two (42) dogs and cats were vaccinated and provided vitamins while eighteen (18) individuals were given Circumcised.

This initiative reflects the enduring spirit of heroism and service exemplified by our forefathersโ€”extending beyond remembrance into meaningful action. Through these efforts, the Coast Guard and its Auxiliary reaffirm their commitment to serve not only in safeguarding our waters but also in uplifting the lives of the communities they protect. Such acts of compassion and unity stand as a modern tribute to the valor and sacrifice of our nationโ€™s heroes.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: On 06 April 2026, the Station Commander, CGS La Union, LTJG JEPTY E UBALDO PCG, paid a courtesy visit to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Regional Fisheries Office in the City of San Fernando, La Union.

The visit aimed to reinforce coordination and strengthen cooperation between the Philippine Coast Guard and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in the implementation of fisheries protection, maritime law enforcement support, and sustainable management of marine resources within the region.

April 9 is observed nationwide as Araw ng Kagitingan, a solemn reminder of the courage and sacrifice of Filipino and allied forces during World War II. This day commemorates the fall of Bataan in 1942, where thousands of soldiers endured unimaginable hardship while defending the countryโ€™s sovereignty. Their bravery, resilience, and unwavering love for the nation remain a powerful symbol of heroism in the face of adversity.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: On 07 April 2026, the Commander, Coast Guard District North Western Luzon (CGDNWLZN), CAPT MARK LARSEN N MARIANO PCG (DSC) together with Station Commander, Coast Guard Station Ilocos Norte, LTJG KEVIN TENECI S PAYONGAYONG PCG joins the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) of Ilocos Norte in recognizing the adoption of Resolution No. 1, s. 2026, reaffirming the provinceโ€™s ๐’๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐’๐ญ๐š๐›๐ฅ๐ž ๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐๐ž๐š๐œ๐ž ๐š๐ง๐ ๐’๐ž๐œ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ (SSIPS).

The reaffirmation was formally held during a ceremonial gathering at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall, Provincial Capitol, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte which were attended by government officials led by the Provincial Governor, Hon. Cecilia Araneta-Marcos, security forces, and community stakeholders.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: As of 8pm, today, the Coast Guard District North Western Luzon (CGDNWLZN), recorded a total of 1,089 outbound passengers and 2,672 inbound passengers across all monitored ports.

In line with ongoing safety measures, the District conducted inspections on 297 vessels and 518 motorbancas to ensure compliance with maritime safety standards.
To effectively manage the expected surge of travelers, a total of 308 PCG Personnel were deployed, and all Coast Guard stations and sub-stations will still remain on heightened alert status from March 28 to April 5, 2026.

๐™‡๐™Š๐™Š๐™†: A near-drowning incident transpired at the vicinity waters of Awesome Resort, Brgy. Ili Norte, San Juan, La Union on 04 April 2026.

The Baywatch Team, composed of personnel from CGSS San Juan and CGDNWLZN, immediately responded upon sighting one of the victims struggling to return to shore while carrying his unconscious companion approximately 20 meters from the shoreline. Through swift and coordinated rescue efforts with the Beach Marshall, both individuals were successfully brought to safety. Immediate assessment was conducted, and life-saving measures, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), were promptly administered to the unconscious victim.

With the assistance of a nurse on-site and the timely response of MDRRMO San Juan, the victim regained vital signs and was transported to LORMA Medical Center for further medical attention. Both individuals are now reported to be in stable condition. This incident highlights the importance of vigilance, responsible behavior, and the readiness of our rescue teams in ensuring the safety of the public along our coastal areas.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: A near-drowning incident occurred along Amburayan River, Brgy. Caggao, Bangar, La Union on 04 April 2026.

Personnel from CGSS Bangar and CGDNWLZN, together with MDRRMO Bangar and Barangay Officials, immediately responded after being alerted by a concerned citizen. The victim was found unconscious and not breathing but with a pulse. The team promptly administered Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), successfully restoring his breathing.

The victim was transported to Ilocos Sur District Hospital for further medical attention, where he later regained consciousness and was assessed to be in stable condition. This incident underscores the importance of responsible behavior, especially avoiding alcohol consumption when swimming, and highlights the readiness of response teams in ensuring public safety.

LOOK | Demonstrating proactive leadership and commitment to operational excellence, the Commander of Coast Guard District North Western Luzon (CGDNWLZN), CAPT MARK LARSEN N MARIANO PCG (DSC), conducted an area visit within the Area of Responsibility (AOR).

Throughout the visit, the District Commander engaged with personnel on the ground, assessing their readiness, addressing operational challenges, and reinforcing the importance of discipline, coordination, and adherence to standard operating procedures. Emphasis was also placed on enhancing responsiveness to maritime incidents, strengthening inter-agency collaboration, and ensuring the welfare and morale of Coast Guard personnel deployed across the AOR.
