PAALALA SA MGA MANGGAGAWA: UNAHIN ANG KALIGTASAN AT KALUSUGAN SA GITNA NG SUPER EL NIÑO

Sa harap ng inaasahang epekto ng Super El Niño, pinapaalalahanan ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) at ng Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) ang mga manggagawa na mag-ingat at pangalagaan ang kanilang kalusugan, lalo na ang mga nagtatrabaho sa ilalim ng matinding init ng panahon.

Hinihikayat din ang mga employer na magpatupad ng mga angkop na hakbang upang maprotektahan ang mga manggagawa laban sa heat stress, dehydration, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, at iba pang panganib sa kalusugan na dulot ng matinding init. Kabilang dito ang pagbibigay ng sapat na pahinga, malinis na inuming tubig, at ligtas na lugar na mapagpapahingahan.

Tandaan, may posibleng benepisyo sa ilalim ng Employees’ Compensation (EC) Program para sa mga manggagawang nagkasakit o naaksidente dahil sa mga kondisyong may kaugnayan sa kanilang trabaho, alinsunod sa mga itinakdang tuntunin at kondisyon ng programa.

Kabilang sa mga posibleng sitwasyon ang heat stroke na may kaugnayan sa trabaho, lalo na sa mga manggagawang matagal na nalalantad sa matinding init, gaya ng mga construction worker, TNVS at delivery driver, at mga manggagawang agrikultural at pangisdaan.

Manatiling alerto, sundin ang workplace safety and health measures, at huwag balewalain ang mga sintomas ng pagkakasakit dahil sa init. Kapag may naramdamang sintomas, agad na humingi ng medical assistance.

BAYAMBANG, PANGASINAN — The Employees’ Compensation Commission – Regional Extension Unit I (ECC-REU I), in collaboration with the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) Regional Office I, conducted an Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP) orientation for the newly hired employees and supervisors of the Agricultural Infrastructure and Leasing Corporation (AILC) in Bayambang, Pangasinan.

The activity aimed to raise awareness and strengthen participants’ understanding of the Employees’ Compensation Program, particularly its coverage, benefits, and procedures for filing claims in cases of work-related sickness, injury, disability, or death.

During the orientation, participants were informed about the importance of the ECP in providing assistance and other benefits to qualified workers or their beneficiaries in the event of work-related contingencies. The discussion also emphasized the value of knowing their rights and understanding the proper procedures for accessing EC benefits.

The collaboration between ECC-REU I and NCMB Regional Office I reflects their shared commitment to promoting workers’ welfare and strengthening awareness of government programs that protect employees and their families.

Through initiatives such as this, ECC-REU I continues to expand its information and education campaign to ensure that more workers, employers, and stakeholders are informed about the benefits and services available under the Employees’ Compensation Program.
