The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) expands digital access and empowers more Filipinos through the Bayanihan SIM Program, providing students and Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries with reliable connectivity to support learning, communication, and access to essential online services.

By offering free monthly data allocation, the program helps bridge the digital divide, enabling learners to access educational platforms, conduct research, attend virtual classes, and connect with valuable information resources.

At the same time, it allows 4Ps beneficiaries to conveniently access government services, livelihood opportunities, and important community updates in an increasingly digital world.

As part of its commitment to digital transformation and inclusive development, DICT continues to strengthen connectivity initiatives that bring technology closer to underserved communities.

Through programs like Bayanihan SIM, the agency fosters greater digital inclusion, expands opportunities for growth and learning, and ensures that every Filipino can participate and thrive in the digital economy.

READ | The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in the Ilocos Region underscores the growing role of digital technology in expanding livelihood and employment opportunities for Filipinos during the Kapihan sa Ilocos of the Philippine Information Agency on June 1.

Speaking at the forum, DICT Ilocos Officer-in-Charge Regional Director Dr. Jaemie D. Ruiz-Chua highlights the agencyโ€™s efforts to develop a future-ready workforce through digital skills training, describing its initiative as โ€œOFW 2.0โ€ or โ€œOnline Filipino Workers.โ€

She notes that with the rise of digital platforms and remote work opportunities, Filipinos can now build sustainable careers and earn income online while working from their homes.

Through its Strengthening the Philippine Workforce through Adaptive and Responsive Digital Knowledge (SPARK) program, the DICT provides free technical training in social media marketing, graphic design, general virtual assistance, and other in-demand digital competencies designed to prepare participants for opportunities in the digital economy.

The agency also continues to broaden its digital literacy initiatives for students, senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), women, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), enabling more sectors to harness digital technologies for learning, entrepreneurship, and employment.

Ruiz-Chua emphasizes that these programs strengthen digital inclusion, enhance workforce competitiveness, and equip Filipinos with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven and interconnected world.
