On April 28, 2026, DICT Region I, headed by OIC Regional Director Dr. Jaemie D. Ruiz-Chua and Provincial Head Mr. Evence C. Baguilat, met with the ISECO team to coordinate on the GovNet Vigan/Bantay project.

The discussion centered on optimizing infrastructure sharing to accelerate the deployment of the government’s digital backbone. By harmonizing technical efforts with local utility partners, ensuring a more seamless and efficient rollout of connectivity for public institutions in the area. This collaboration remains key to our goal of a fully integrated and Konektado Region I.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: DICT Regional Office 1 actively participated in the First General Assembly held on April 22, 2026, at the Speaker Pro-Tempore Francisco I. Ortega Convention Center, with the theme “Innovating La Union: Synergizing Stakeholders for a Digital Future.” The event brought together key stakeholders from government, industry, academe, and ICT advocacy groups to align strategies toward a cohesive, globally competitive digital ecosystem.

The assembly reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to inclusive digital transformation through multi-sectoral collaboration under the A.G.I.L.E. framework (Academe, Government, and Industry Linkages and Ecosystem) and Provincial Ordinance No. 443-2024. By unveiling the provincial ICT roadmap, the Council aims to modernize public services and enhance digital literacy to ensure no one is left behind in La Union’s digital journey.

𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒: Mas Mabilis, Mas Abot-Kaya at Mas Malawak na Internet para sa bawat Pilipino

Alinsunod sa utos ng Pangulo na tiyaking maayos at abot-kaya ang internet sa bansa, patuloy na pinapabuti ng DICT, katuwang ang mga telco providers, ang koneksyon ng bawat Pilipino.

Batay sa ulat mula sa Oplan Bantay Signal dashboard, Ookla Speedtest, at third party data providers, malinaw na naging mas mabilis at mas mura ang internet ngayong 2026.

Sa unang quarter ng taon, umabot sa 43.80 mbps ang mobile download speed mula sa 40.63 mbps noong 2025. Bumilis din ang broadband speed sa 108.94 mbps mula sa 101.32 mbps. Nangangahulugan ito na mas mabilis na ang internet para sa pag-aaral, trabaho, at araw-araw na online activities ng mga Pilipino.

Kasabay nito, malaki rin ang ibinaba ng presyo ng internet, mula sa ₱21.50 kada GB naging ₱7.07 kada GB, kaya mas magaan ito sa bulsa ng bawat pamilya.

Mas naging maayos na din ang signal at mas lumawak na din ang access sa 5G sa iba't ibang lugar ng bansa.

Patunay ang progreso na ito na sa ilalim ng Digital Bayanihan, bawat Pilipino ay konektado saan mang sulok ng bansa.

𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒: MAS PINALAWAK NA DIGITAL ACCESS AT ONLINE OPPORTUNITIES, HATID NG DICT SA ANTIPOLO!

Marami pa ring mga estudyante, g**o, health workers, at komunidad ang nangangailangan ng mas mabilis at maaasahang internet access upang makasabay sa online learning, digital services, at mga oportunidad sa trabaho sa digital economy.

Kaya bilang pagtupad sa direktiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na palawakin ang digital access sa bansa, matagumpay na isinagawa ng Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region IV-A CALABARZON, katuwang ang Lokal na Pamahalaan ng Antipolo City, ang Ceremonial Launch at Turnover ng Free Public Internet Access Program Sites, Tablets for Rural Health Units at Grant ng SPARK Training Vouchers noong 06 May 2026 sa ikalawang distrito ng Antipolo City, Rizal.

Sa ilalim ng Republic Act No. 10929, matagumpay na na-activate ang libreng internet para sa 56 locations kabilang ang mga paaralan, barangay halls, at health facilities upang mas mapalapit sa mamamayan ang digital learning, e-government services, at online opportunities.

Kasabay nito, patuloy ding pinalalakas ng Strengthening the Philippine Workforce through Adaptive and Responsive Digital Knowledge (SPARK) initiative ng DICT ang kakayahan ng mga Pilipino lalo na sa liblib na lugar sa pamamagitan ng digital skills training para maging handa sa ICT-enabled jobs at iba pang oportunidad.

Bukod dito, matagumpay din na naihatid ng DICT sa pakikipagtulungan ng United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) ang 12 na tablets para sa dalawang Rural Health Units upang suportahan ang mas episyente at modernong serbisyong pangkalusugan gamit ang digital technology.

Sa pamamagitan nito, mas napapalapit sa mga taga-Antipolo ang mga oportunidad sa edukasyon, trabaho, serbisyong pampubliko, at digital innovation na makatutulong sa pag-unlad ng kanilang komunidad.

Patunay ito sa patuloy na pagsusumikap ng pamahalaan na isulong ang inklusibong digital transformation at tiyaking walang Pilipinong maiiwan sa digital na pag-unlad.

Iba't ibang sektor ng pamahalaan, nagsama-sama upang palakasin ang cybersecurity sa critical sectors ng bansa.

Bilang proactive measure sa pagpapalakas ng cybersecurity lalong-lalo na sa mga kritikal na sektor sa bansa, nagpulong ang mga sangay ng pamahalaan kabilang ang Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of Energy (DOE), Office for Transportation Security (OTS), National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), at National Electrification Administration (NEA).

Ito ay bilang pagsunod sa utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na siguruhin ang isang Bagong Pilipinas na digitally empowered, secure, at resilient.

"Ang cybersecurity ay hindi na lamang isang IT concern. It is a national priority. It is about protecting our economy, our institutions, and ultimately, the lives of every Filipino," Ito ang binigyang diin ni DICT Secretary Henry Aguda sa nasabing pagpupulong.

Tinugunan ng nasabing pagpupulong na mapag-usapan ang mga kinakaharap na hamon ng iba't ibang critical sectors sa bansa sa larangan ng cybersecurity at mapalakas ang kanilang pagtutulungan.

Ang usapin ng cybersecurity ay hindi lamang para sa pamahalaan kundi para rin sa bawat mamamayan. Sama-sama tayong magtulungan tungo sa isang digitally secured na Bagong Pilipinas.
