STRENGTHENING BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES & EXPANDING PORT CAPABILITIES: PPMC CONDUCTS STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENT VISITS IN BATAAN
In line with its commitment to continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and economic growth in the Poro Point Freeport Zone (PPFZ), the Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC) Board of Directors headed by Chairman Nicky A. Oller, President and CEO Servillano C. Flores, Jr., Officers and Dir. Franco Paolo G. Lasam, and Employees recently conducted a strategic visit to the key maritime facilities of Bataan - BASECO Joint Venture Inc. in Mariveles, Bataan on July 23-25, 2026. The PPMC delegation was warmly welcomed and graciously hosted by BBJVI Chairman Rodrigo E. Franco, together with Mr. Jose Eduardo Libatique, BBJVI's Adviser.
Highlights of the engagements included an inspection of the various port facilities. The team visited the Mariveles Harbor Port to inspect its facilities and gain valuable insights into its port management and daily operations. PPMC had an overview of the Philcement Port facility for handling and processing cement. During the visit, PPMC actively engaged Philcement leadership with Assistant Vice President of Logistics Mr. Aaron Lloyd Sahagun, encouraging them to resume their cargo shipping operations at the San Fernando Seaport including expansion projects.
The team inspected the 17-hectare Herma Shipyard to learn shipbuilding and ship repair port facilities and operations. With its sister company, Herma Shipping, already utilizing the San Fernando Seaport, PPMC explored potential strategic partnerships to further strengthen local maritime logistics and services.
PPMC also met with Mr. Elgin Quiwa of Earth and Shore Leisure and Communities Corporation, to discuss potential collaborations in ferry terminal management and water transport operations. The discussions also opened avenues for partnership regarding the resumption of commercial flights at the San Fernando Airport, paving the way for seamless air-and-sea connectivity for tourism and trade in Northern Luzon.
The strategic engagement kicked off with a courtesy visit with Hon. Jose Enrique S. Garcia III, Governor of the Province of Bataan, to foster collaboration.
Additionally a visit to Hon. Mohammed Hussein P. Pangandaman, Administator and Chief Executive Officer of Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB), was conducted to exchange best practices and institutional experiences in Freeport administration and investment promotion. It also allowed PPMC to be exposed into AFAB's governance and operational approaches while fostering discussions on areas of mutual interest and potential avenues for future collaboration.
This comprehensive and multi-facility visit reflects PPMC’s ongoing efforts to adopt industry best practices, upgrade infrastructure, and drive progress through strategic partnerships.
