JUST IN | LACO Granted CNC for Sustainable Vermicomposting

March 17, 2025- The LARBA Agriculture Cooperative (LACO) has received its Certificate of Non-Coverage (CNC) from the DENR for its vermicompost production in Brgy. La Union, Prosperidad. This milestone follows six months of compliance efforts under the VLFED Project since the initiative began in October 2024.

With a 0.720 metric ton annual production capacity, the project aligns with environmental regulations under DENR’s waste management category. The CNC allows LACO to proceed without requiring an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC), ensuring sustainable composting practices for local farmers.

LACO remains committed to environmental compliance and plans to expand its impact on sustainable agriculture in Agusan del Sur.

"KUMUSTASAKA" Survey Testing in Agusan del Sur

March 12-13, 2025 – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) conducted "Kumustasaka" survey testing to assess the status of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) and leaseholders under Agribusiness Venture Arrangements (AVAs) held at Dels Hotel Extension Building, Brgy.5, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur.

Led by Director Emmanuel Fallaria, DARCO Planning Services, along with the Artificial Intelligence for Local Governance team and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), carried out the Kumustasaka Information System (KIS) survey to validate land ownership, crops, and needed support services. PARPO I Engr. Rudy S. Solomon also graced the event, underscoring the local DAR office’s support for the initiative.

By improving its ARB database and information system, DAR aims to provide better assistance, boost farm productivity, and contribute to national food security and self-sufficiency.
