After 15 years, the long wait is finally over for the Municipality of San Francisco, Cebu.
The long-awaited 3-day BFAR Deputation Training for Fish Wardens, held on January 20–22, 2026, was successfully conducted at the Fish Landing, Lower Can-ising, Southern Poblacion, San Francisco, Cebu. This historic activity marks a major milestone in strengthening fisheries law enforcement and enhancing the capability of our local fish wardens in protecting marine and inland water resources.
This significant undertaking was made possible through the strong leadership and unwavering support of Mayor Alfredo A. Arquillano Jr., whose commitment to environmental protection, sustainable fisheries, and community-based resource management continues to guide the municipality toward long-term ecological balance and food security.
Throughout the three-day training, fish wardens were equipped with essential knowledge on fisheries laws, enforcement procedures, and proper coordination with concerned agencies—ensuring more effective action against illegal fishing and other destructive activities.
The Municipality of San Francisco extends its sincere gratitude to BFAR, PCG, PNP, MAO, CRM, Hon. Alan R. Arrojado- Committee on Agriculture Chairman, Barangays, Rare Philippines, Bantay Dagat/Fish Wardens and all partner agencies and stakeholders for making this long-overdue initiative a reality. Together, we strengthen our resolve to safeguard our seas, support our fisherfolk, and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
