The Municipality of San Jacinto continues to uphold peace and order through the successful surrender and subsequent arrest of a wanted person on August 4, 2026.

The peaceful surrender of the individual was made possible through the sincere efforts and intervention of Hon. Mayor Francisco “Kito” P. Altarejos and Former Mayor Ceron P. Altarejos, whose commitment to promoting peace, justice, and the rule of law encouraged the wanted person to peacefully submit to the authorities.

Following the surrender, the San Jacinto Municipal Police Station properly implemented the Warrant of Arrest in the presence of Atty. Alea Ana Monica E. Rejuso in accordance with existing laws and standard police operational procedures, while ensuring that the rights of the arrested individual were fully respected.

The Municipal Government of San Jacinto commends the invaluable leadership of Mayor Kito and Former Mayor Ceron, as well as the professionalism and dedication of the San Jacinto Municipal Police Station in making this peaceful resolution possible.

This achievement reflects the power of cooperation between community leaders and law enforcement agencies in fostering a safer, more peaceful, and orderly San Jacinto for every San Jacinteño.

👻 GHOST MONTH 2026: A Time of Tradition, Reflection, and Respect

During the Flag Raising Ceremony last Monday, Dok Mayor Kito shared a brief reflection on the observance of Ghost Month, encouraging everyone to understand its cultural significance and the traditions observed by many communities.

From August 13 to September 11, 2026, Ghost Month is observed in many Chinese communities around the world. Rooted in Buddhist and Taoist beliefs, it is traditionally believed that the gates of the underworld open during this period, allowing wandering spirits to visit the world of the living. Families honor their departed loved ones through prayers, food offerings, and acts of remembrance.

While these beliefs may not be practiced by everyone, Ghost Month reminds us of timeless values that everyone can embrace—respect for traditions, gratitude for our ancestors, kindness toward others, and mindfulness in our daily lives.

Ghost Month Do’s

✅ Offer prayers or remember departed loved ones.
✅ Practice kindness, humility, and generosity.
✅ Keep your home clean and well-lit.
✅ Prioritize your health and well-being.
✅ Be mindful of your words and actions.

Ghost Month Don’ts

❌ Avoid making major life or financial decisions.
❌ Avoid swimming or staying outdoors late at night.
❌ Do not pick up offerings left in public places.
❌ Avoid making unnecessary loud noises at night.
❌ Many also choose to postpone signing important contracts or starting major ventures.

Whether you observe Ghost Month or simply wish to learn more about it, understanding and respecting cultural traditions fosters harmony within our diverse community. As Dok Mayor Kito reminded us, learning about one another’s beliefs strengthens mutual respect, compassion, and unity.
