SAN LUIS, Aurora โ April 15, 2026 โ As a gesture of gratitude for the communityโs support in the fight against insurgency and its continued embrace of peace, the Philippine Armyโs 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division (7ID) delivered food packs to at least 250 residents of Barangay Dibut through its flagship outreach program, โHandog Malasakit ng Pamilyang Kaugnay,โ as part of its effort to reach geographically isolated communities.
One of the highlights of the initiative was the provision of financial assistance to the Samahan ng Magsasaka at Mangingisda sa Dibut (SMMD), received by its organization president.
The support aims to strengthen the groupโs livelihood activities and improve their economic resilience, as part of 7IDโs effort to empower local communities and sustain peace through inclusive development initiatives.
Maj. Gen. Joseph Norwin D. Pasamonte, Commander, 7ID, led the outreach program, mobilizing troops from the 91st Infantry Battalion and the 703rd Infantry Brigade under Brigadier General Eugenio Julio C. Osias IV, in close coordination with local government partners such as the Philippine National Police and Philippine Coast Guard.
The SMMD together with the residents of Barangay Dibut, a coastal community often beyond the regular reach of government programs, expressed their gratitude to 7ID for the food packs, noting that such assistance is rarely received due to the remoteness of their area.
Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Pasamonte emphasized that lasting peace is built not only through security measures but through direct engagement with communities.
โPeace is not only secured through strength โ it is nurtured through compassion and service. By reaching remote barangays like Dibut, we are not just delivering assistance; we are strengthening trust, creating opportunities, and reinforcing a shared sense of nationhood,โ he said.
The 7ID Commander says they will continue working with local government units and partner agencies to sustain development gains in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs).
With initiatives like โHandog Malasakit ng Pamilyang Kaugnay,โ the 7ID positions itself as a key partner in national development โ ensuring that even the most far-flung communities are not left behind.
