More than 100 participants, composed of hog raisers, barangay officials, and officers and members of the Bontol Hog Raisers Association (BHRA), successfully participated in the Training on Swine Production, Disease Prevention, and Control held on July 17, 2026 at the Bontol Covered Gym, Brgy. Bontol, Sibalom, Antique.

The training aimed to enhance farmers' knowledge on proper swine production practices, identify common swine diseases with emphasis on African Swine Fever (ASF), and promote effective disease prevention, control, and biosecurity measures. Other animal diseases, proper feeds and feeding, and biosecurity protocols were also discussed to help ensure healthier and more productive livestock.

The activity featured informative lectures from Dr. Enrique Sanchez, Jr. and Mr. Joel Opiña, with the presence of Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Florencio M. Macuja, who reaffirmed the Provincial Government's commitment to supporting the livestock sector.
The Bontol Hog Raisers Association (BHRA) is one of the recipients of the Provincial Government of Antique's Livelihood Assistance Program for swine production, making this training an important component in ensuring the success and sustainability of their livelihood project.

The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian also distributed forage crop seedlings, brochures and flyers on swine raising, feeds and feeding, African Swine Fever (ASF), biosecurity measures, and vitamin supplements to the farmer-participants.
The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian extends its sincere appreciation to Punong Barangay Hon. Rey Ventura for his unwavering support, for encouraging all hog raisers to actively participate in the training, and for the warm accommodation and hospitality extended to the participants and resource speakers.

"Kapon ang solusyon, hindi tapon."

The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian – Antique, in partnership with the Municipality of San Jose de Buenavista and CLARS Foundation, successfully conducted the Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return of Stray Dogs and Cats (CNVR).

This initiative aims to promote humane and sustainable stray animal population management through free castration and vaccination services, while advocating responsible pet ownership and improved animal welfare within our communities.

The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV), led by personnel from the office, paid a courtesy visit to Municipal Mayor Hon. Victor R. Condez of Bugasong to discuss collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening the municipality's livestock industry and veterinary services.

The visit was facilitated by Mr. Freddie P. Vista, Municipal Agriculturist, as part of OPV's continuing efforts to strengthen coordination with local government units across the province.

During the meeting, OPV and the Municipal Government discussed ongoing and upcoming livestock development programs, including artificial insemination services, deworming, vitamin supplementation, and community-based veterinary interventions, all aimed at improving animal health, boosting livestock productivity, and supporting the livelihood of Bugasong's farmers.

Mayor Condez expressed his appreciation for OPV's continued support and reaffirmed the Municipal Government's commitment to programs that directly benefit the local agricultural sector.

This engagement reinforces the strong partnership between OPV, the Municipal Agriculture Office of Bugasong, and the Municipal Government in delivering responsive veterinary and agricultural services to local communities.

Earlier, the Municipal Agriculture Office, in coordination with the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) and OPV, conducted artificial insemination, deworming, and vitamin supplementation activities for large cattle in Barangay Igbalangao, a concrete example of this partnership in action.

OPV remains committed to working hand in hand with LGUs across Antique to advance sustainable livestock development and deliver essential veterinary services to our farmers.

The Philippine Carabao Center – Western Visayas (PCC-WV), through its Genetic Improvement Program, with the assistance of the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian – Antique (OPV Antique) and in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Laua-an through the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist, successfully conducted the Bayanihan Program Services in Sitio Malawmawan, Brgy. Lindero, and Brgy. Casit-an, Laua-an, Antique on July 14, 2026.

The activity provided essential veterinary interventions to livestock raisers in the municipality. A total of five (5) carabaos and six (6) cattle were artificially inseminated, thirty-six (36) heads of livestock were dewormed, and twenty-nine (29) heads received vitamin supplementation.

This initiative highlights the continuing collaboration among the Philippine Carabao Center – Western Visayas, the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian – Antique, and the Local Government Unit of Laua-an in advancing livestock genetic improvement, promoting animal health, and enhancing the productivity and sustainability of the livestock sector in the province.

Representatives from the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV) paid a courtesy call yesterday, July 8, 2026, to Hon. Aser S. Baladjay, Municipal Mayor, and Municipal Agriculturist Arjun Garcenilla, in preparation for the implementation of the Carabao Upgrading Program (CUP) and Genetic Improvement Program Services of the Philippine Carabao Center at West Visayas State University (PCC-WVSU) in the Municipality of Laua-an.

The activity, scheduled on July 14–15, 2026, will provide Massive Artificial Insemination, Deworming, Vitamin Supplementation, and Pregnancy Diagnosis for carabaos. The program will also cover goats and cattle through breeding, scheduling, monitoring, and animal health services to improve livestock productivity in the municipality.

Leading the OPV-Antique team for this activity was Luela S. Furio and company. The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian alongside with the Municipal Agriculture Office of Laua-an encourages all livestock raisers with carabaos, cattle, and goats to coordinate with their respective barangay officials and proceed to the designated assembly areas according to the scheduled visits of each team to avail of these free livestock services.

The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV), in partnership with the Philippine Carabao Center – West Visayas State University (PCC-WVSU) and with the invaluable assistance of the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist of Tibiao, successfully conducted the Carabao Upgrading Program (CUP) and Genetic Improvement Program Services on July 7–8, 2026.

The activity delivered free livestock services, including massive artificial insemination, deworming, vitamin supplementation, pregnancy diagnosis, breeding assistance, and animal health interventions for carabaos, cattle, and goats to support improved livestock productivity and sustainable farming in the municipality.
The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian extends its sincere appreciation to PCC-WVSU, the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist of Tibiao, barangay officials, and all livestock raisers who actively participated and contributed to the successful implementation of the program.

The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (ProVet) of Antique visited Enrique Hill to discuss programs that support our local livestock industry last July 5, 2026.

The meeting focused on the implementation of artificial insemination for cattle and carabao
in the North District, a significant step toward improving cattle productivity and enhancing the livelihood of our farmers. We also shared valuable insights and practical knowledge on goat raising, highlighting the importance of proper management and sustainable livestock production.
