Benteng Bigas, Meron Na! the P20 Rice Project: Para sa Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas

With our mandate on the promotion and implementation of agri-fishery programs and projects in Antique, our collective pursuit of food security and accessible food for Antiqueño. The Provincial Government successfully launched selling of the 20 pesos rice per kilo, a P20 Rice project that embodies the commitment of the government to make quality rice more affordable and accessible to our fellow Filipinos.

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) through our Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Gina Jordan and under the leadership of our Honorable Governor Paolo Everardo S. Javier extends our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the Department of Agriculture- Asst. Secretary for Agribusiness, Marketing and Consumer Affairs and Head of the Kadiwa ng Pangulo Program, Atty. Genevieve E. Velicaria-Guevarra, to the Food Terminal Inc. represented by Vice President for Corporate Affairs Atty. Oliver Dicdican, to the National Food Authority Iloilo Branch Manager Mr. Jay Mark Malvar, DA Western Visayas Regional Executive Director Dennis R. Arpia, to the Lone District of Antique Representative Congressman AA Legarda, to SP Committee Chairman for Agriculture Hon. Fernando Corvera, and to Bugasong Municipal Mayor Victor Condez who made the successful launching of the “Benteng Bigas, Meron Na!” P20 Rice Project a reality in Bugasong, Antique.

Pasado na sa Third Reading ang ating kambal na panukalang batas—ang 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁 at ang 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝘁—mga mahahalagang reporma upang mapalakas ang food security ng bansa at maiangat ang kabuhayan ng ating mga magsasaka at mangingisda.

Isa itong mahalagang hakbang tungo sa pagbuo ng mas matatag, mas produktibo, at mas sustainable na sektor ng agrikultura na makatitiyak ng sapat at abot-kayang pagkain para sa bawat pamilyang Pilipino.

Layunin ng 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗡𝗼. 𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟭, o ang 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁, na magtatag ng isang mas matatag, mas mabilis tumugon, at mas coordinated na 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 na magbibigay sa mga magsasaka at mangingisda ng napapanahong technical assistance, research-based technologies, climate-smart farming practices, at tuloy-tuloy na capacity-building.

Samantala, layunin naman ng 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗡𝗼. 𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟬, o ang 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝘁, na muling itatag ang 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘂 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 upang palakasin ang kakayahan ng mga magsasaka at mangingisda na makapag-organisa at maging mas competitive.

Kapag mas matatag ang ating mga agricultural cooperatives, mas mapapadali ang kanilang access sa financing, mga pamilihan, makinarya at kagamitan, at iba pang value-adding opportunities na makapagpapalaki ng kanilang kita.

Nagpapasalamat tayo sa ating mga kapwa senador sa kanilang suporta sa mga panukalang ito. Umaasa rin tayo na agad na makukumpleto ng Kongreso ang legislative process upang maisabatas ang mga ito.

HAPPENING NOW | The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Antique, is conducting a seminar on Consumer Rights and Responsibilities in line with the celebration of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Month this July.

Ms. Sealbia Y. Quilino, Trade and Industry Development Specialist of DTI-Antique, serves as the resource person for the seminar held at Tiripunan Business Park, San Jose de Buenavista, Antique, during the Kadiwa ng Pangulo activity.

The activity aims to increase the awareness of Kadiwa exhibitors and consumers on their rights and responsibilities under consumer protection laws, promote fair and ethical business practices and encourage the delivery of quality products and services.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. signed Proclamation No. 544 on May 10, 2024, declaring July of every year as Philippine Agriculturists’ Month.

In recognition of this meaningful observance, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist extends its heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all dedicated agriculturists whose unwavering commitment, expertise and service continue to strengthen the agricultural sector and contribute to food security, sustainable development and rural progress.
