San Jose West Central School has emerged as one of the important educational institutions in the district particularly in Central Luzon. It began as one-room wooden elementary school in the 19th century. San Jose, under the American Regime, beca

me a progressive town. Its inhabitants enjoyed more rights and privileges- political, economic, intellectual and religious than before. This was due to the establishment of various schools, churches, public buildings and the construction of roads and bridges, which made possible the fast progress of the town. In 1901, the school received a distinction as one of the first public schools built in Central Luzon. The School Head, an American was able to expand his work in the field of education. He then emphasized and rendered family seminars, and he also conducted theses during summer sessions and workshops armed with serving the manpower needs of then “Kabaritan”, now known as San Jose City. The year 1910 marked the beginning of the construction of several buildings under the leadership of the town mayor. and called Gabaldon Hall. The same year also marked the construction of another building for the intermediate, the H.E. During the incumbency of Municipal President Agapito Kurameng, (1912–1916), he initiated the Construction of a Concrete Elementary School Building (Gabaldon building) which now comprised one of the central school buildings of the San Jose West Elementary School. This building was inaugurated on July 10, 1913 The improvement of roads, expropriation of lots for the Municipal Hall and the Public Market were among his other achievements. Apolonio Pascual was re-elected for the 1934-1937 term. Dimas Tomas was the Vice President for the same term. Due to a change on the set-up in 1935, which was known as commonwealth government, the heads of the municipal government came to be known and called Alcalde and Vice-Alcalde. Aside from the construction of more roads, the barrios of Patacla (now San Franscisco) and A. Pascual were founded. The water works that provides the people of San Jose with drinking water was constructed and installed. The home economics building of San Jose West Central School was also constructed. During the World War II, the entire school campus was in a mess because the Japanese turned it into a concentration camp. After WW II in 1946, the school was reopened and it operated again. Buildings were rehabilitated. From there, year after year, the school was developed and had improved a lot.
