On July 20, 2026, at exactly 2:00 PM, the Basic Life Support (BLS) Training officially commenced under the leadership of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), in partnership with all Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMOs) within the SAMARICA area of Occidental Mindoro.
The Alpha Company, 1702 Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion (1702 RRIBN) actively participated in the training by sending 30 personnel. Their participation reflects the unit's commitment to supporting the Provincial Government's call for collaboration among various sectors, organizations, and government agencies in strengthening emergency preparedness and response.
This training aims to enhance the capability, readiness, and resilience of both the Provincial Government and the community in responding effectively to emergencies, disasters, accidents, and other critical incidents.

The participation of Alpha Company was led by 1LT RONALDO P. DADAYA, PA (RES), Commanding Officer of Alpha Company, 1702 Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion, under the supervision of LTC JOLIWAR M. JOAQUIN, PA (RES), Battalion Commander, 1702 RRIBN, and by the authority of LTC ULYSSES MENDOZA (MI), PA, Director of the 1702 Community Defense Center, 17RCDG, RESCOM, Philippine Army. Together, we strengthen preparedness, save lives, and build a safer and more resilient community through unity, training, and dedicated service.

12 Reservist Personnel of Alpha Company, 1702nd RRIBn, led by 1LT RONALDO P DADAYA PA (RES), Company Commander, together with Sgt Elizaldo M Del Rosario Jr (Inf) PA, CMO NCO, 1702nd CDC, conducted a feeding program and food pack distribution at Sitio Narra, Brgy Camburay, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, in partnership with Vice Governor office headed by Vice Governor Diana Apigo Tayag and Eagles Club San Jose Chapter. The endeavor was the initiative of said NGO and RRU in response to the recent calamities of typhoon “Inday” with the international name "Bavi," wherein several families in San Jose were affected by the heavy rains distressing the flood-prone areas. Hence, 50 families with 103 individuals were given food packs and benefited from the feeding program. The activity was assisted by Hon. Froilan R. Dalalo, Chairperson, Camburay BLGU, ended at about 1100 on the same day with a positive result.

The Alpha Company of the 1702nd Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion (RRIBn) stood in proud alignment as they officially participated in the National Youth Movement for the West Philippine Sea. Executed in close partnership with the Reserve Command and the Civil-Military Operations Regiment of the Philippine Army, the collaborative initiative brought together defenders of both current and future generations. The united front served as a powerful showcase for the Armed Forces of the Philippines, creating a dynamic forum where elite defense experts directly engaged with youth leaders. Taking the stage to inspire the crowd, Dr. Cella Lamkin, NYMWPS Founder and Global Chair, delivered a passionate address on the vital role the youth play in civic awareness and global advocacy.

This strategic gathering proudly presented the historic 10th Anniversary of the 2016 Arbitral Tribunal Ruling on the South China Sea. Joining the roster of distinguished speakers, Capt. Carl O. Schuster, USN (Ret), Defense and Security Consultant, provided an incisive tactical analysis regarding the geopolitical importance of the landmark maritime decision. Alpha Company and the guest speakers collectively reinforced the legal reality that these disputed waters belong indisputably to the Filipino people. By bridging the gap between military readiness and civilian advocacy, the event successfully honored a decade of legal triumph while securing an unyielding legacy of territorial integrity.

Under the focused leadership of LDRRMO/PDRRMO SAMARICA Team Leader Maritoni C. Ventura, a vital step toward community resilience began with the registration and pre-orientation for the Basic Safety and Lifesaving Training (BSLT) volunteers. The atmosphere was charged with purpose as candidates gathered to align their dedication with the rigorous standards of disaster response. Highlighting the collaborative nature of this initiative, the Alpha Company 1702nd RRIBn officially endorsed 20 disciplined participants to join the ranks. This crucial preparation phase ensured that every volunteer understood the weight of their upcoming responsibilities and the specialized skills they were about to master.

Once their intensive training is complete, these capable individuals will transition into the regular first responders for each municipality across the SAMARICA area. They will serve as the frontline defense against unpredictable emergencies, ready to deploy at a moment's notice whenever crises strike. Whether facing the fury of a typhoon, the devastation of a fire, the sudden shock of an earthquake, or unexpected road accidents, their presence will ensure immediate aid. Through the vision of Team Leader Maritoni C. Ventura, this new cohort stands poised to become the ultimate safety net for their communities during any impending calamity.

On June 23, 2026| A sense of unity filled the Municipal Gymnasium as the Alpha Company came together for a vital cause. Joining forces with the 1702nd Community Defense Center, the 68th Infantry Battalion, and the Philippine Red Cross, these brave service members stood side-by-side with members of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO). Together with various other local agencies, they actively participated in a massive Blood Donation Drive aimed at saving lives within the community. The event beautifully embodied its profound theme, "Beyond colors, we all bleed red," highlighting human connection over all else.

This successful humanitarian activity was expertly led by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Jose, alongside the dedicated teams of the MDRRMO and the Philippine Red Cross-San Jose Chapter. Their seamless coordination ensured that volunteers were processed efficiently, creating a safe and welcoming environment for everyone willing to roll up their sleeves. By bridging the gap between uniform organization members and civilian leaders, the initiative underscored the power of collective action in times of peace. Ultimately, the overwhelming turnout proved that when a community unites for a shared purpose, its impact can resonate far beyond the gymnasium walls.
