ALTERNATIVE LEARNING MODES FOR SCHOOLS ON SEPTEMBER 4

Pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 134, alternative learning modes and learning continuity measures shall be implemented at all levels in public and private educational institutions in the National Capital Region and the following provinces on September 4, 2026, unless their respective Local Chief Executives direct the cancellation or suspension of classes.

The measure is in view of the anticipated continued heavy rainfall associated with the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and poor air quality in the NCR caused by haze from severe forest and peatland fires in Kalimantan and Sumatra, Indonesia.

Localized cancellation or suspension of classes in other areas may be implemented by their respective Local Chief Executives.

𝐕𝐢𝐯𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐞!

Most Rev. Nick A. Vaquilar, D.D., S.Th.D.—the newly appointed 4th Bishop of the Diocese of Urdaneta—presided over the celebration of the Feast of St. Bartholomew and the 339ᵗʰ Founding Anniversary of San Bartolome de Agno on August 24 at St. Bartholomew Parish Church in San Manuel, Pangasinan.

Bishop Vaquilar’s presence served as a historic and humble reminder of the purpose of the sacred Catholic faith: fostering unity, mutual cooperation, and the practice of holy teachings under the guidance of the patron saint, St. Bartholomew.

According to Rev. Fr. Hurley John S. Solfelix, the opportunity to meet the esteemed and honorable Bishop was a significant blessing for the town of San Manuel. He noted that this marked the first time a Bishop had attended such a gathering.

The celebration was successfully realized through the assistance and support of local government officials—led by Mayor Kenneth Marco S. Perez and Vice Mayor Alain Jerico S. Perez—as well as veterans, business groups, senior citizens, tricycle and jeepney operators' and drivers' associations, various commissions, religious organizations, movements, lay associations, apostolates, ministries, and public and private schools.

The devotees of San Manuel took to heart the meaningful message conveyed during the Mass: to keep the fire of goodness and holiness burning in their soul in the name of Jesus Christ.
