𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗼 𝟮𝟬, 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗹𝗮𝘀 💪🌾

Sa kabila ng pagkasabotahe sa mga signages ng Mestiso 20 gabi bago ng field day, hindi napukaw ang gilas ng tindig at uhay ng pampublikong hybrid sa Provincial Rice Technology Forum (PRTF) nitong ika-7 ng Oktubre. Kitang-kita sa mga larawan na naging kapansin-pansin ito sa mga mahigit 150 dumalong magsasaka.

“Maganda ang crop stand ng Mestiso 20, mahaba ang uhay, may laman halos lahat ng butil at pantay-pantay ang taas nito. Nais ko ring malaman ang tamang pamamahala at dami ng abono na ginamit upang magamit ko rin sa susunod na cropping” ani Denis Yanos ng Pudtol, Apayao.

Lumahok sa aktibidad ang 21 kumpanya na nagpakita ng iba’t ibang teknolohiya at produkto, kabilang ang hybrid seeds, soil ameliorants, biofertilizers, at inorganic fertilizers. Layunin ditong maipakilala sa mga magsasaka ang mga makabagong teknolohiyang maaaring makatulong sa pagpapataas ng ani at kita sa pagsasaka.

Sa ganitong mga aktibidad, mas nagiging makabuluhan ang pagpili ng barayti at pamamahala sa palayan dahil nakikita mismo ang aktwal na resulta sa bukid. Nagbibigay rin ito ng pagkakataong makapagtanong, makapagpalitan ng karanasan at matukoy ang mga praktis na maaaring iangkop sa sariling sakahan.

𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀, 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

DA-PhilRice Isabela made its debut at the 16th Joint Cordillera Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (CorCAARRD)- Cordillera Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development Consortium (CIEERDEC) Regional Symposium on Research, Development, and Extension Highlights and 9th Regional Student Research Congress, held on September 29–October 1, 2026, at Kalinga State University, Tabuk City, Kalinga.

PhilRice Isabela brought home three awards in different categories, all reflecting one shared purpose: advancing rice communities through research, innovation, and collaboration.

The booth featured and distributed healthier rice options, including high-zinc, low-glycemic index, brown, and pigmented rice – promoting responsible rice consumption, support for local farmers, and healthier food choices.

DA-PhilRice Isabela became a member this year of the CorCAARRD. It is also a member of the Cagayan Valley Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CVAARRD).

Nagsagawa ng field day sa Variety Field Trials (VFT) Isabela sa mga bayan ng Tumauini, Ramon, at Mallig.

Sinimulan na ng RCEF Seed Program ng PhilRice, katuwang ang mga accredited Seed Growers’ Cooperatives and Associations (SGCAs), ang paghahanda para sa sapat na certified in**ed rice seeds ng mga magsasaka sa Region II at Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) para sa 2027 dry season.

Sa Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing kahapon, napagtibay ang mga kasunduan para sa produksyon at magiging suplay ng certified in**ed rice seeds.

Binigyang-diin sa pagpupulong ang pagsunod sa itinakdang standards sa seed production, quality control, packaging, documentation, at delivery. Ipinabatid sa mga SGCAs ang maayos na proseso mula produksyon hanggang sa paghatid ng mga binhi sa mga farmer-beneficiaries.

Sa maagang pagpaplano, koordinasyon, at pagtutulungan, mas masisiguro ang organisado at maaasahang seed supply system para sa mga ka-palay.

𝗜𝗣𝗠-𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗻𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗴𝗮 𝗔𝗯𝗥𝗙 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿-𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 🌾👌🏻

Umani ng kaalaman ang mga rice farmer-beneficiaries ng Agroecology-based Rice Farming (AbRF) para sa mas ligtas, makakalikasan, at sustenableng pagsasaka.

Sa pagtatapos ng mga AbRF farmer-beneficiaries ng DA-RFO CAR sa Training on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Ecological Engineering nitong Setyembre 22–24 sa Villaviciosa, Abra, natutunan nila ang mga paraan ng pamamahala sa peste na hindi nakadepende lamang sa kemikal.

Binibigyang-diin ng IPM ang tamang pagmamanman at pagkilala sa peste bago ito kontrolin, habang sa ecological engineering ay gumagamit ng natural na proseso at biodiversity upang makatulong sa pagkontrol ng mga peste.

Sa AbRF, hindi lang ang tanong na “Paano dadami ang ani?” ang mahalaga, kundi pati “Paano mapapalaki ang ani habang inaalagaan ang lupa, tubig at kalikasan para sustenable ang pagsasaka?”

Pinangunahan ng DA-RFO CAR, DA-PhilRice Isabela, at LGU Villaviciosa, Abra ang pagsasanay.

High-zinc rice, magandang ani sa gitna ng El Niño! ☀️🌾

Sa kabila ng tagtuyot na nakaapekto sa kondisyon ng sakahan, nakaani si Dr. Emil June B. Ranchez ng 4.8 tons sa isang ektaryang sakahan nito ng high-zinc rice (NSIC Rc 460) sa Brgy. Calinaoan Sur, Delfin Albano.

Dahil sa magandang resulta, plano pa niya na subukan ulit ang high-zinc rice sa darating na dry season upang higit pang makita ang potensyal nito sa kanilang lugar.

Napili ang Delfin Albano bilang deployment site ng high-zinc rice dahil sa datos ng kaso ng child stunting na umabot sa 9.9%. Bukod pa rito, kilala ang Delfin Albano bilang isa sa mga agricultural municipalities sa probinsya ng Isabela. Dahil dito, isinagawa ang pagsubok ng high-zinc rice upang makita ang performance nito sa aktuwal na kondisyon sa bayan, kabilang ang hamon ng limitadong suplay ng tubig at tagtuyot.

PhilRice recalibrates Lakbay Palay to deepen farmer engagement

The Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) Isabela has recalibrated its annual Lakbay Palay activity this year to provide farmers and other stakeholders with a more focused learning experience on rice varieties, technologies, and improved farming practices.

PhilRice Isabela Branch Director Joy Bartolome Duldulao said the 2026 Lakbay Palay, held at the PhilRice Isabela demonstration farm in San Mateo, featured nine learning stations showcasing rice varieties, technologies, and farming innovations that participants can consider adopting in their own farms.
