As we continue to explore the rich and flavorful world of Filipino cuisine this April, we journey to San Narciso, Zambales to feature a humble yet beloved local dish—Adobong Sili Beddeng.

Rooted in tradition and community, this dish is commonly enjoyed during the first months of the year, coinciding with the harvest season in Barangay Beddeng. Through intercropping, farmers produce an abundant supply of sili Beddeng, making it affordable and accessible to many households—truly a reflection of sustainable living and local ingenuity.

What makes this dish special is its simplicity. Unlike the usual adobo that uses soy sauce or bagoong, Adobong Sili Beddeng highlights the natural flavor of fresh chili—small, slightly wrinkled (kulobot), firm, and surprisingly mild in taste. When simmered in vinegar and spices, the sili absorbs the rich, tangy adobo flavor while keeping its texture—resulting in a dish that is savory, aromatic, and uniquely Zambaleño.

Great news, hikers and nature enthusiasts!
Following the successful completion of our maintenance and clearing operations, we are thrilled to announce that Mt. Kapigpiglatan is OFFICIALLY REOPENED for trekking and hiking starting today, March 9, 2026.
Our trails are ready once again for your next adventure! These recent efforts ensure a safer and more enjoyable climbing experience for everyone while preserving the natural beauty of our mountains.
📋 Reminders for Hikers:
* Safety First: Please strictly follow the instructions of our registered mountain guides.
* Leave No Trace: Let’s keep our mountains pristine. Always pack out what you pack in—strictly no littering.
* Be Prepared: Ensure you are physically fit and have the proper gear before starting your ascent.

📢 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Temporary Closure of Mt. Kapigpiglatan
To all hikers, nature enthusiasts, and weekend warriors:
Please be advised that Mt. Kapigpiglatan will be temporarily closed to the public on March 7–8, 2026.
We are dedicated to keeping our trails safe and our mountain beautiful. During this two-day window, our team will be conducting essential trail repairs and clearing operations to ensure a better (and safer!) experience for everyone.
🗓️ Quick Details:
* Closure Dates: March 7 (Saturday) & March 8 (Sunday)
* Reason: Trail maintenance, debris clearing, and safety enhancements.
* Reopening: Trail operations will resume on March 9, 2026.
⚠️ What this means for you:
* No Bookings: No new hiking permits or reservations will be issued for these dates.
* Rescheduling: If you already have a booking for March 7–8, our office will reach out to you directly to reschedule your climb or process a refund.
* Strictly No Entry: For the safety of our maintenance crews and the public, entry to the trailheads will be strictly prohibited during this period.

🏔️ PANAWAGAN SA MGA BAYANI NG KABUNDUKAN!
Handa ka na bang ibahagi ang ganda ng Mt. Kapigpiglatan?

Bukas na ang aplikasyon para sa mga nagnanais maging Mountain Guide (18 years old and above/Resident of Brgy. Omaya) at para sa mga kailangang mag-Renew ng kanilang permit!
Pinahahalagahan natin ang kaligtasan ng ating mga hikers at ang proteksyon ng ating kalikasan, kaya inaanyayahan namin ang mga dedikado at kwalipikadong aplikante na magsumite ng sumusunod na requirements:
* Barangay Clearance
* Cedula (Current Year)
* Police Clearance
* Valid ID (Government Issued)
* Medical Certificate galing sa RHU (Fit to Work)
* Mayor’s Permit
* 2x2 ID Picture (White Background)

📃 Additional Requirements (Kung meron na).
* Basic First Aid Training and other Certificates
* Certificate of Accreditation
* Old Tour Guide ID (Para sa mga magre-renew)

Mt. Kapigpiglatan will reopen for hiking starting November 14, 2025, after the clearing operations conducted by the Omaya Mountain Guides.

The site is once again ready to welcome visitors who wish to climb, explore, and experience the beauty of Mt. Kapigoiglatan! 🌿

NOTICE OF SUSPENSION OF TOURISM ACTIVITIES

Temporary Suspension of All Tourism Activities in Omaya, San Narciso, Zambales.

This measure is being implemented to ensure the safety of all tourists, guides, and local communities, as the expected heavy rains, strong winds, and possible landslides pose serious risks in mountain and riverside areas.

In light of the approaching Super Typhoon “Uwan,” all tourism-related activities particularly at MT. KAPIGPIGLATAN and VETO FALLS are suspended starting November 09, 2025 until further notice.
All bookings, guided hikes, and visits to the said tourist sites are temporarily put on hold, and tour operators and visitors are advised to coordinate with the Omaya Tourism Council for further announcements regarding the resumption of activities once weather condition improves and safety has been reassessed.
We encourage everyone to stay alert, monitor official weather updates, and prioritize safety above all else.
