in 2016, the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) ruled in the Philippines’ favor in its claims versus China in the disputed regions of the South China Sea, especially in the former’s exclusive economic zone.

In its ruling, the PCA also rejected China’s “nine-dash line” claims which it based on historical sources, and ruled that China’s actions of preventing Philippine activities in the disputed area violated the Philippines’ sovereign rights.

While several governments around the world have recognized the award, up to present, China does not and refuses to acknowledge the ruling.

At just 10 years old, he sold vegetables in Makati to help his family make ends meet.

Years later, that same boy would earn six PRC licenses through decades of perseverance and lifelong learning:

✅ Real Estate Appraiser
✅ Environmental Planner

His sixth license, as an Environmental Planner, came just before turning 50, proving that learning has no age limit and that it's never too late to pursue a new goal.

This remarkable rescue happened in 2005 near California's Farallon Islands, where a young female humpback whale became hopelessly entangled in heavy nylon crab fishing gear that cut deep into her skin and made swimming almost impossible.

A team of experienced divers spent about an hour carefully removing the ropes from around her mouth, body, and tail while staying alert, because a single movement from a 40-ton whale could have been fatal.

After the last rope was cut away, the exhausted whale reportedly circled back to the divers instead of swimming away immediately.

According to several members of the rescue team, she gently approached each diver one by one, nudging them softly before finally diving back into the ocean.

While it's impossible to know exactly what the whale was thinking, rescuers described the interaction as feeling like a deliberate gesture of recognition rather than random behavior.
