EARTHQUAKE INFORMATION
Issued on 01:10 AM, 14 October 2020

At 01:45 AM, 14 October 2020, a 2.4 magnitude earthquake (TECTONIC) was recorded at 17.27°N, 120.66°E - 006 km S 30° W of Luba (Abra). It has a depth of 072 km.

No aftershocks and no damages expected, according to PHIVOLCS.

Nevertheless, the public is reminded to stay calm and alert at the same time. When shaking is felt, do the Duck-Cover-Hold and stay away from objects that may easily fall or break.

At 3:00 AM today, Tropical Depression DINDO was estimated based on all available data at 805 km East of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 55 km/h. It is moving North Northwestward at 15 km/h. Southwest Monsoon affecting the country.

The Cordillera Region will experience occasional rains caused by Southwest Monsoon. Possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to occasional heavy rains.

Strong winds blowing from Southwest to Southeast will prevail over the region.

Light to Moderate rains with occasional heavy rains are being experienced over Cordillera Administrative Region which may persist 1-2 hrs and may affect nearby areas.

All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards. Residents along mountain slopes are advised for possible landslides,mudslides, rock slides and flash floods.

Typhoon "Ambo" is now over Catanuan, Quezon and approaching Northern Quezon-Laguna area.

The eyewall region of Typhoon Ambo is bringing destructive winds and heavy to intense rainfall over the northern portion of Bondoc Peninsula in Southern Quezon.

At 10:00 AM today, the eye of Typhoon "AMBO" was located in the vicinity of Catanuan, Quezon, and is moving Northwest at 20 km/h, with maximum sustained winds of 125 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 165 km/h.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 is raised over the province of Benguet while TCWS No. 1 is raised over the provinces of Abra, Apayao, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province.

The public and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next updates.

SEVERE WEATHER BULLETIN #12

Typhoon "Ambo" further intensifies and is now threatening the Eastern Samar-Northern Samar Area.

At 7:00 AM today, the center of "Ambo" was estimated at 185 km East Southeast of Catarman, Northern Samar or 110 km East Northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar. It is moving West at 15 km/h, at maximum sustained winds of 155 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 190 km/h.

The typhoon is forecast to make landfall over Northern Samar or the northern portion of Eastern Samar this afternoon or early evening before heading towards Sorsogon later tonight. Further intensification remains likely before the typhoon makes landfall.

The public and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next updates.
