HEADS UP FELLOW NORTEHANONS! Showcase your creativity and our province culture through your parol.
The Provincial Government is inviting our local parol makers to the “Isang Bituin, Isang Mithiin” NATIONAL PAROL-MAKING COMPETITION sponsored by the Office of the President.
Submit your entries to the Provincial Tourism Office on or before November 13, 2022. At the provincial level, entries will be judged on November 14, 2022 based on the following criteria:
Compliance with parol specifications – 30%
Use of endemic materials – 25%
Craftmanship – 25%
Creativity – 20%
Contest mechanics:
1. The contest is open to all Nortehanon individual or group (Maximum of 4 members)
2. The Parol entry must be made with 70% endemic materials
3. It must have lighting. But live fire is not allowed
4. It must be 2 feet in diameter with about 35% of the diameter in thickness
5. It must be able to withstand any type of weather
From among the entries submitted to the Provincial Tourism Office, the most worthy parol will be picked and submitted to Malacaňang Palace as the official entry of Northern Samar. The lucky parol will be awarded a prize of P30,000.
Parol entries of provinces will be showcased during the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 3 in Malacaňang. Winners of the national contest will also be announced during the event.
At the national level, a hefty prize of P500,000 awaits the First Place winner, P300,000 for the Second Placer and P100,000 for the Third Placer. Winners will also receive laptop, cellphone, and Kabuhayan showcases and will be featured on the Malacaňang Palace Christmas Tree and on RTVM.
