The 4th Marine β€œMakusug” Brigade will proudly host the Ilocos Norte edition of the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) Marathon 2025 on October 19, 2025 at Ferdinand E Marcos Memorial Stadium, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. This event is in partnership with the Philippine Marine Corps Officers’ Spouses Association, Inc. (PMCOSAI) and the Philippine Marine Corps Foundation, Inc. (PMCFI). A nationwide series of PMC Marathon, which endeavors to promote unity, physical fitness, and a stronger bond between the Marines and the communities they serve.

The Laoag, Ilocos Norte leg will bring together military personnel, civilian participants, local government officials, stakeholders, and fitness enthusiasts in a merriment of camaraderie, resilience, and service. More than just a race, the PMC Marathon serves as a meaningful gathering to honor the sacrifices of our Marines and promote solidarity across all walks of life.

Proceeds from the event will assist in the following:

1. Provide college scholarships to PMCOSAI scholars;
2. Support the children of wounded and fallen Marines; and
3. Support our troops deployed in strategic border and island detachments, safeguarding our national sovereignty.

By participating in the PMC Marathon 2025 – Ilocos Norte Edition, runners not only embrace the spirit of endurance and teamwork but also make a real difference in the lives of our Marines and their families.

On 08 August 2025, the Marine Battalion Landing Team-8 Search, Rescue, and Retrieval Team (SRRT), in coordination with the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office and the Bureau of Fire Protection–Banna, Ilocos Norte, successfully retrieved the body of a missing person after a two-day search and rescue operation at Brgy. Nagrebcan, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.

On 31 July 2025, Marine Battalion Landing Team-8 brought home the trophy at the β€œNatan-Ok A Badoc Cookerlympics 2025” held at Pres. Ferdinand E. Marcos Sports and Cultural Center, Badoc, Ilocos Norte.

This exciting event was part of our Nutrition Month 2025 celebration with the theme: β€œFood and Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!” The event was facilitated by the Local Government Unit of Badoc, promoting food and nutrition awareness in a fun and engaging way for the whole community.

In a crucial move to bolster operational readiness and troop survivability, the Marines of Marine Battalion Landing Team-8 undertook Combat Life Saver (CLS) Training at their headquarters in Badoc, Ilocos Norte. This rigorous, hands-on training equipped personnel with vital life-saving skillsβ€”from bleeding control and airway management to casualty evacuation techniquesβ€”ensuring every Marine is prepared to render immediate medical aid during combat or field operations.

Far more than a routine drill, CLS embodies a solemn pledge: that no Marine will be left behind in a moment of crisis. Through this initiative, MBLT-8 reaffirms its commitment to being a combat-ready and life-preserving forceβ€”steadfast in upholding the highest ideals of the Philippine Marine Corps.
