The teacher was Mrs. Romana Casil of Centro 2, Sanchez Mira, Cagayan and a certain Mrs. Navarro. It was situated in a residence in Barangay Nagrangtayan because there was no available lot and building yet. But when t

here were lot donors, the school started to bloom in a location along the national highway in Barangay Magacan. Nagrangtayan-Magacan Elementary School was established in Barangay Magacan. But in its initial years, the school was named Nagrangtayan Elementary School because Magacan was a former sitio of Barangay Nagrangtayan. It was in 1910 when Magacan was created as a barangay. Rain or Shine: NMES Scouts Unite in Two-Day Camp

Despite rainy weather, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Nagrangtayan–Magacan Elementary School (NMES) successfully carried out a two-day school-based joint scouting activity, filled with discipline, teamwork, and life-skills learning.

The activity officially opened with a torch parade around the school campus, where scouts marched while singing scouting songs. Undeterred by the rain, the pupils showed enthusiasm and unity, reflecting the true spirit of scouting.

A meaningful campfire ceremony followed at the school gymnasium. During the program, scouts recited the Scout Promise and Scout Laws, performed yells, and shared incredible team presentations that highlighted their creativity, confidence, and cooperation. The ceremony strengthened camaraderie and reminded the pupils of the core values of scouting.

One of the most memorable experiences for the scouts was sleeping overnight at the school, allowing them to experience independence, responsibility, and teamwork. The pupils also learned to prepare their own meals, with the cook fest emerging as the most exciting part of the activity.

The scouting event featured three major Life Skills Contest sessions.
Session 1: Producing Coconut Milk challenged teams to husk mature coconuts, grate them manually, and squeeze coconut milk by hand.
Session 2: Rice-Cooking tested the scouts’ basic survival skills, as the contestants started a fire using matches and cooked rice for their group using firewood.
Session 3: Dish-Cooking with Coconut Milk allowed group members to prepare a lunch viand using coconut milk as the main ingredient, showcasing their basic cooking skills and teamwork.

Meanwhile, the Star Scouts and Kab Scouts participated in fun and engaging games, strengthening teamwork, agility, and camaraderie among the younger scouts.

Dr. Joey G. Macamus, the school principal, commended the pupils for their determination and participation. “This activity proves that learning goes beyond the classroom. Through scouting, our pupils develop life skills, resilience, and teamwork—qualities that will guide them as responsible individuals in the future,” he said.

The successful conduct of the joint Boy Scout and Girl Scout activity reflected NMES’ commitment to holistic education, proving that even challenging weather cannot hinder meaningful learning, unity, and fun.

NMES Strengthens Literacy and Nutrition Through Feeding-Reading Program

The Nagrangtayan-Magacan Elementary School (NMES) community gathered this morning for the successful conduct of its Feeding Program cm Reading Program, an initiative spearheaded by the school principal, Dr. Joey G. Macamus, in support of the Aral Reading Program and the launching of the school-based feeding program with the theme: “Nourish to Flourish: Feeding Minds and Bodies for a Brighter Future.”

The event became even more meaningful with the presence of Dr. Venus D. De Guzman, Public Schools District Supervisor, who delivered an inspirational message emphasizing the vital role of parents in ensuring proper nutrition for their children. She underscored that a well-fed learner is more focused in class and motivated to excel in their studies.

Adding to the significance of the celebration was the generosity of Mrs. Bernadette Yaquin, a valued stakeholder, who sponsored the Jollibee meals for the learners through the Jollibee Abulug branch. Her support brought smiles and joy to the pupils, especially to the IP learners, who were filled with excitement at the sight of Jollibee. For many of them, the experience became an inspiration to come to school every day, knowing that learning can be both rewarding and fun.

Before the meals were served, pupils engaged in their reading time activities inside their classrooms. During the program proper, Barbie Chloey S. Agtang presented a delightful theme interpretation through a storytelling session of “The Wolf and the Three Little Pigs.” The appearance of the Jollibee mascot added excitement and fun, as learners danced, laughed, and posed for pictures.

The NMES family expressed their sincerest gratitude to Mrs. Yaquin for her kindness and generosity, which made the activity especially
meaningful for the children.

This undertaking not only nourished the learners’ bodies but also enriched their minds, serving as both inspiration and motivation for them to attend school regularly and value their education. Truly, the program embodied its theme by feeding both minds and bodies for a brighter future.
