JUST IN. 25 LEED Beneficiaries Complete Training on Cattle Fattening

STA. CATALINA, Negros Oriental — Twenty-five beneficiaries of the Livestock Economic Enterprise Development (LEED) Program successfully completed a three-day Training on Cattle Fattening held on May 5–7, 2026, at Sitio Jagna, Barangay Nagbalaye, Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental.

The training aimed to strengthen the livestock sector’s contribution to improving the income and livelihood opportunities of smallholder farmers. Participants were equipped with essential knowledge and practical skills in cattle fattening production and management, including proper feeding practices, animal health management, housing, and marketing strategies.

By the end of the activity, participants were expected to have enhanced their competencies in cattle fattening production and management practices, enabling them to improve productivity and increase potential income from livestock raising.

Serving as resource persons during the training were Rolando R. Gomez, Jr., Agricultural Technologist, and Renato T. Cadayday, Municipal Agriculturist.

Municipal officials encouraged the beneficiaries to apply the knowledge and skills gained from the training to further strengthen livestock production and help boost the local livestock industry in their respective communities.

The activity was spearheaded by through its Livestock Focal Persons, Jessa P. Maglangit, DMO I, and Danelyn A. Enero, Technical Support Staff.

This activity was made possible through the efforts and support of the ATI-7 personnel headed by Project Officer Ms. Jessa Maglangit, together with the valuable knowledge shared by our resource speakers, Municipal Agriculturist Renato Cadayday and Livestock Coordinator Rolando Gomez Jr.

The training provided practical knowledge, techniques, and insights on proper cattle fattening management that will surely help improve livestock production and livelihood opportunities for the beneficiaries.

Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and contributed to the success of this activity. Together, we continue to empower our farmers and strengthen the agricultural sector in our community.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

With a heavy heart, we come before you today in light of the ongoing global energy crisis that continues to affect our nation and our community. Following the declaration of a National Energy Emergency through Executive Order No. 110, series of 2026, and the corresponding directive of the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental, we are compelled to suspend all non-essential activities in our Municipality.

This difficult decision comes as we face rising fuel costs and limited energy supply—realities that call for unity, sacrifice, and responsible action from all of us.

It pains us deeply to announce that the usual grand celebrations we have all come to love—such as the Pakol Festival, Hara ng Santa Catalina, and other major highlights of our 78th Fiesta—will not take place this year. Instead, we will hold only simple and meaningful activities, made possible through the kindness and support of our generous sponsors.

We know how much these celebrations mean to our people. We know the joy they bring, and we especially recognize the tireless efforts, passion, and dedication of our organizers, handlers, trainers, and all those who have worked day and night since January to prepare for these events. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and for that, we are truly grateful.

This decision was never easy. But in these trying times, we are called to put first what truly matters—ensuring that our limited resources are directed toward essential services. We must prioritize support for our transport groups, fisherfolk, and farmers—sectors that are among the most affected and who need immediate assistance, such as fuel subsidies, to sustain their livelihood.

We humbly ask for your understanding, your compassion, and your continued support. Let us stand together as one community, showing resilience and solidarity in the face of this challenge.

Though this year’s celebration may be quieter, our spirit as a people remains strong and unwavering.
