The Provincial Government of Laguna, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), successfully celebrated the National Disability Rights (NDR) Week, with this year's observance highlighting 𝖠𝗎𝗍𝗂𝗌𝗆 𝖲𝗉𝖾𝖼𝗍𝗋𝗎𝗆 𝖣𝗂𝗌𝗈𝗋𝖽𝖾𝗋 (𝖠𝖲𝖣). The activity gathered persons with disabilities, parents, advocates, and stakeholders in support of promoting greater awareness, inclusion, and understanding of individuals on the autism spectrum.

The celebration was graced by Ms. Marita Barcia (APGDH), representing Ma'am Lucia C. Almeda (PGDH-PSWDO), Vice Mayor Toni Aurelio, who represented Gov. Sol Aragones, and Kuya Ching, AKAY ni Sol Ambassador. In their messages, the guests reaffirmed the Provincial Government's commitment to protecting the rights and advancing the welfare of persons with disabilities via inclusive programs and services.

The learning session on Autism Spectrum Disorder was facilitated by Teacher Catherine Lopez, a parent of an individual on the spectrum, who presented valuable insights on understanding autism, early intervention, and the vital role of families and communities in creating an inclusive environment. The program was followed by sharing from selected parents about their lived experiences, challenges, coping strategies, and inspiring success stories in raising children with autism, encouraging fellow parents to remain hopeful and resilient.

To further support the participants, the Provincial Government through the PHO conducted free dental services, including oral prophylaxis, and distributed dental kits. Rice packs and assistive devices were also distributed to the participants courtesy of the Office of the Governor and PSWDO. Vice Governor Atty. JM Carait extended additional support by providing commemorative mugs and bottled water.

The meaningful celebration showed PGL's continued commitment to the rights, dignity, and inclusion of persons with disabilities, and strengthened partnerships with families, advocates, and communities to build a more accessible and compassionate Laguna for all.

The National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) invites all persons with disabilities who have applied for the upcoming Civil Service Examination – Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT) for the Professional and Subprofessional Levels to register for the FREE Online Civil Service Review.

The review sessions will be conducted from July to August 2026 to help participants prepare for the Civil Service Examination and strengthen their readiness for public service.

Interested participants are encouraged to accomplish the registration form. Qualified registrants will be notified once their registration has been reviewed and approved.

The City/Municipal Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) Heads, Focal Persons, and Persons with Disability Federation Presidents gathered for a dynamic 3-day capacity development training focused on strategic planning sessions and leadership skills. Graciously graced by 𝐏𝐒𝐖𝐃𝐎 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐚 𝐂. 𝐀𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐚, the event was expertly facilitated by 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐣𝐢𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐚, 𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐎 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐫𝐨 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐧.

Participants engaged in interactive workshops that equipped them with practical tools to enhance disability inclusion and effective governance. The training fostered collaboration and empowered attendees to drive meaningful change in their communities and in the province of Laguna towards 2032 onward.

The meeting coincided with the awarding of sports materials to the winners of Mini-paralympics/ Sportsfest held last Dec. 3, 2025 during the IDPD Celebration and Provincial General Assembly of Persons with Disabilities.

The Provincial Government of Laguna through the Provincial GAD Focal Point System, Provincial Health Office, PSWDO-PDAO, and LPFPWDI join the nation in commemorating the 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 by conducting an orientation on R.A. No. 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women, R.A. No. 9262 also known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children and lectures on hypertension, diabetes, smoking cessation, and cancer awareness.
