The National Youth Commission (NYC) respectfully invites all registered Youth Organizations and Youth-Serving Organizations under the Youth Organization Registration Program (YORP), as well as youth leaders and advocates, to actively participate in the 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐄 𝐏𝐇 𝐅𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐀𝐋: 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 (𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲) 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐧, 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐳𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲.

The activity is one of the flagship initiatives of the NYC aimed at promoting equality, inclusivity, social justice, and the protection of human rights, particularly for the LGBTQIA+ community and other marginalized sectors. Anchored on the principles of social inclusion and equity under the Philippine Youth Development Plan (PYDP), the event seeks to strengthen youth participation and advocacy for diversity, acceptance, and non- discrimination.

The celebration will feature various activities, including:

🌈 Pride March within UP Diliman;
🌈 NYC Float Parade participation;
🌈 Kabataan, Kabaklaan, at Kalusugan (K*K) Stage – Youth Health & Satellite Stage;
🌈 Advocacy discussions and performances;
🌈 HIV Testing Centers; and
🌈 Interactive NYC booths showcasing youth development programs and service.

Through these activities, the NYC aims to promote awareness and understanding of LGBTQIA+ rights, gender equality, mental health, youth empowerment, and inclusive community engagement.

The participation of youth organizations and advocates will greatly contribute to strengthening collective efforts toward building safe, inclusive, and empowered communities 🏳️‍🌈💖.

The Supreme Court En Banc, in Calubag v. COMELEC and Kimberly Joseph, upheld the cancellation of the Certificate of Candidacy of an SK Chairperson candidate for violating the anti-dynasty clause of the SK Reform Act.

The Court found that the candidate falsely declared that he was not related within the second civil degree of consanguinity or affinity to any incumbent elected national, regional, provincial, city, municipal, or barangay official in the locality where the candidate seeks to be elected. Substantial evidence showed that his mother was still an incumbent Sangguniang Barangay member when he filed his COC.

The ruling confirms that the SK Reform Act’s anti-dynasty clause is enforceable. It also makes clear that a related incumbent official’s resignation must be clearly shown to have taken effect before the filing of the COC.

Beyond the candidate’s disqualification, the Supreme Court also recognized the broader constitutional problem of political dynasties, describing dynastic rule as “an affront to the Constitution.”

For youth governance, this decision is a reminder that the fight against political dynasties begins even at the barangay and SK level, and that meaningful youth participation must be protected from the same entrenched political practices that the Constitution seeks to prevent.
