MYTH: “COMELEC decides when nationwide regular elections are held.”

✅ FACT: The dates of nationwide regular elections are prescribed by the Constitution or by laws enacted by Congress. The Commission on Elections’ (COMELEC) constitutional mandate is to enforce and administer all laws and regulations relating to the conduct of elections.

Once the law prescribes the election date, COMELEC undertakes the necessary preparations and administers the election in accordance with the Constitution and applicable laws.

📌 Important to know:

COMELEC may postpone voting only in specific areas under circumstances provided by law, such as violence, terrorism, force majeure, or other causes that make the holding of elections impossible, pursuant to the Omnibus Election Code.

Ipinababatid po sa lahat na pansamantalang 𝗦𝗨𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗗𝗢 ang pagproseso at pag-isyu ng Voter’s Certificate sa Lunes, 18 May 2026, sa mga Opisina ng Election Officer (OEOs) sa buong bansa upang bigyang-daan ang huling araw ng voter registration. Magbabalik ang regular na operasyon sa mga OEO sa 19 May 2026.

Gayunpaman, 𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗜 𝗔𝗣𝗘𝗞𝗧𝗔𝗗𝗢 ng suspensyong ito ang pagproseso at pag-isyu ng Voter’s Certificate sa COMELEC National Central File Division, FEMII Building, Extension Cabildo St., Intramuros, Manila. Mananatili itong bukas sa publiko sa Lunes, 18 May 2026, mula 8:00 AM hanggang 5:00 PM.

Ang voter registration ay hindi pwedeng ipagawa sa ibang tao. Kailangang personal na pupunta at makita ng Election Officer ang nagpaparehistro dahil may biometric data capturing at oath-taking ito na siya lamang ang pwedeng magbigay at gumawa.

Huwag kalimutan magdala ng isang valid government-issued ID at ang iyong sarili ngayong voter registration, dahil sa pagpaparehistro bilang botante ikaw lang dapat, wala nang iba!😉
