The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Santa Marcela has extended financial assistance to the Department of Education (DepEd) to support the participation of local athletes and coaches in the Apayao Provincial Athletic Meet.

Under the Special Education Fund (SEF), the LGU provided assistance for athletes and coaches uniforms amounting to 195,500.00, meals and snacks for athletes and coaches throughout the sports activity amounting to 259,200.00 and sports equipment amounting to 15,655.00.

An additional 200,000.00 was provided under the Sports Fund for sports equipment, bringing the total assistance to 670,355.00.

The assistance underscores the LGU’s continued commitment to supporting sports development and the welfare of Santa Marcela’s athletes and coaches as they represent the municipality in provincial-level competitions.

The Provincial Office for Agricultural Services (POAS), together with the Municipal Agriculture Office, conducted a three-day Financial Literacy Training for Farmers’ Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) in the municipality from September 2–4, 2026, at the EKB Clubhouse, Santa Marcela, Apayao.

A total of 28 participants attended the training, which aimed to enhance their existing knowledge and assess their level of understanding of bookkeeping and accounting, particularly in recording and managing financial transactions.

Serving as resource speakers were Ms. Lovely Rose M. Osam and Ms. Therese Ann R. Awing from the Provincial Accounting Office, who facilitated the discussions and practical activities throughout the training.

The training covered various topics and workshops, including Introduction to Financial Literacy; Accounting Source Documents and Books of Accounts; Recording Financial Transactions Using Accounting Books; Introduction to Bookkeeping and Accounting; and Simple Recording through Debit and Credit Entries.

The activity provided participants with practical knowledge and skills to improve their financial recording practices and strengthen their understanding of basic accounting principles.

PUBLIC INFORMATION

The Local Government Unit of Santa Marcela informs the public that the DENR-CENRO Calanasan has deployed Ms. Jenalyn C. Ventura, Land Management Inspector/Community Liaison Officer, to the municipality and will be scheduled every Friday.

Residents may visit the municipal office to seek assistance and guidance regarding tree-cutting permits, chainsaw registration, permits to transport forest products and other DENR-related matters.

The public is encouraged to take advantage of this service for easier access to DENR assistance and proper guidance regarding their concerns.

The Local Government Unit of Santa Marcela joined the opening ceremony of the Apayao Provincial Athletic Meet 2026 today, September 3, held at the Apayao Tourism and Sports Complex Grandstand in San Gregorio, Luna, Apayao.

LGU officials, together with the athletes, coaches, and trainers, attended the opening ceremony to show their support and encouragement to the athletes representing Santa Marcela in the provincial competition.

The LGU encourages all athletes to do their best, enjoy the competition, and uphold discipline and sportsmanship. More than winning, the experience, effort and determination they bring to the competition are already a source of pride for Santa Marcela.

SUSPENSION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES AND ADOPTION OF WORK-FROM-HOME (WFH) ARRANGEMENT IN THE LGU

Date: 31 August 2026

In view of Memorandum Circular No. 133 and the anticipated heavy rainfall due to the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), the Local Government Unit of Santa Marcela announces the suspension of face-to-face classes on 1 September 2026 (Tuesday) in all public and private schools within the LGU.

Schools are advised to use appropriate alternative learning modes, as determined by school authorities.

The Local Government Unit of Santa Marcela will also adopt a Work-from-Home (WFH) arrangement on 1 September 2026, subject to applicable rules. Personnel performing essential and critical functions may be required to report for duty.

Parents and guardians are advised to keep learners safe, monitor official announcements, and coordinate with schools.

The public is urged to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow local safety advisories.

LGU SANTA MARCELA HOLDS MONTHLY MASS

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Santa Marcela held its monthly Mass today, August 26, 2026, at the EKB Clubhouse, Santa Marcela. The Mass was led by Rev. Fr. Alejandro Abangley and attended by members of the LGU family.

In his homily, Rev. Fr. Abangley reminded everyone that no person is perfect and encouraged employees to focus on improving their attitude, especially in dealing and working with others. He also reminded everyone not to give in to temptations despite our imperfections, but to remain strong in faith and choose what is right in our daily actions.

The monthly Mass, held every last Wednesday of the month, aims to strengthen the spiritual life of LGU employees and inspire them to continue serving the community with dedication, humility, and a positive attitude.

Today’s Mass was hosted by the Municipal Treasury Office.

PHILIPPINE MARINE CORPS RECRUITMENT EXAMINATION RESCHEDULED

The Local Government Unit of Santa Marcela informs interested and qualified applicants that the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) Recruitment Examination, previously scheduled in Tabuk City, Kalinga, has been rescheduled.

The recruitment examination will now be conducted at the Apayao State College, San Isidro Sur, Luna, Apayao, from October 7–16, 2026.

The LGU encourages qualified residents of Santa Marcela who aspire to join the Philippine Marine Corps to take note of the new venue and schedule and prepare the necessary requirements.

Applicants are reminded to bring the original and photocopies of the required documents and to arrive early. They should also be prepared for the physical and written examinations.
