(by: MCSamortin)
February is National Oral Health Month – which is a perfect opportunity to reiterate to everyone that good oral/dental health translates to overall good health. With this year’s theme: “Ibigin ang Bibig! Sa bibig na malusog at alaga, masustansiyang pagkain enjoy hanggang pagtanda”, aimed to strengthen public awareness of the importance of having and maintaining good oral health all year round.
The City Government of Santiago headed by the ever-active City Mayor Atty. Alyssa Sheena P. Tan supported the celebration through the Dental Section of the City Health Office who facilitated an activity dubbed as the simultaneous tooth brushing drill on February 1, 2023 participated by the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Program of the City of Santiago which comprised of 65 Child Development Centers in the 37 barangays.
The Southern Isabela Medical Center Dental Team and the Dental Auxiliaries of Barangay Health Centers conducted a lecture and demonstration on the proper hand washing and tooth brushing to the participants and reminded the importance of good oral health. The kids actively participated in the lecture and in the actual tooth brushing drill.
Barangay officials were also present and one in the advocacy of having good oral health during the early years.
The activity paved a positive impact and truly, “sa magandang ngiti, hindi lang camera-ready; kundi ngiting wagi dahil healthy!”
