PARA SA KABATAAN!

The Commission on Population and Development (CPD) is one with the celebration of the International and National Youth Day and Linggo ng Kabataan this August.

This year's theme underscores the lived experiences of youth across the globe—despite their diverse circumstances, all young people share a common vision: a sustainable future defined by engagement, enablement, and empowerment.

The future we navigate together should be a future we all get to shape.

Today, August 8, 2026, we celebrate the 59th Anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), nearly six decades of countries coming together, learning from one another, and building a region where progress can be shared by all.

As the Philippines leads ASEAN this year under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together,” we are reminded that the future is not something we simply move toward. It is something we shape together. And it is stronger when all of us, regardless of gender, across generations and communities, have the space and opportunity to take part in it.

May the ASEAN we shape be one where everyone has a voice, feels safe, and has a place to belong—because no one should be left behind in the progress we seek.

Happy 59th ASEAN Day!

The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) has completed the validation phase for the fourth batch of the GAD Local Learning Hub (GAD LLH) Certification Program. The said program recognizes local government units (LGUs) with outstanding and notable programs, services, and facilities in advancing gender mainstreaming. From February to July 2026, PCW validated 33 gender-responsive initiatives across 14 LGUs.

PCW released the Call for Applications for GAD LLH Batch 4 on March 10, 2025, receiving a total of 23 applications from LGUs nationwide.

Of the 23 applicants, 17 LGUs met the minimum requirements for shortlisting while only 14 completed on-site validation. During each validation visit, the PCW GAD LLH Team led by the Technical Services and Regional Coordination Division verified and substantiated the information submitted in the LGU’s Profile Form and GeRL Assessment Tool results.

Speaking during the validation visit in Pasig City, PCW Chairperson Ermelita V. Valdeavilla described the GAD LLH program as a space where long-ignored issues are finally brought into the open, becoming starting points for dialogue, action, reform, and hope.

Protektado ka ng Republic Act No. 11862, o ang Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022, at Republic Act No. 11930, o ang Anti-OSAEC and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Act.
