In the wake of the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck parts of Mindanao last week, Panay National High School, through its Guidance Office, conducted a Psychological First Aid session to support learners affected by the incident.

The activity aimed to help students process their experiences, address feelings of fear and anxiety, and strengthen their coping mechanisms as they gradually return to their normal routines.

Through guided discussions and psychosocial support activities, learners were given a safe space to express their thoughts and emotions while receiving practical strategies for managing stress and promoting emotional well-being.

The initiative highlights Panay National High School’s commitment to safeguarding the mental health of its learners, recognizing that recovery from disasters extends beyond physical safety and includes emotional healing and resilience-building.

As the school community continues to move forward, Panay NHS remains steadfast in fostering a supportive environment where learners can recover, adapt, and thrive despite challenges.

As we resume classes tomorrow, please keep the following in mind to ensure a smooth, and safe transition back to school:

1. Well-being First (Kumustahan & PFA)
Our absolute priority during the first few days is the socio-emotional well-being of our learners and teachers.
a. Begin with Kumustahan and Psychological
First Aid (PFA).
b. Conduct necessary orientations before
officially starting the instructional block.

2. Flexible Assessment Timeline
Do not rush or force the completion of
assessments such as the CRLA, RMA, and
Phil-IRI.
a. Per DO 9, the end of term window for
conducting these assessments extends until
July 10, 2026.
b. Take your time to ensure an accurate and
stress-free assessment process.

3. Safety and Preparedness
In light of recent events, we must remain vigilant. Please ensure that earthquake drills and safety protocols are strengthened and strictly practiced in your respective schools.

4. Contextualized Learning Plans
Because each Division faces unique circumstances, please coordinate closely with your respective SDOs for the specific details of your Learning and Service Continuity Plan.

Stay safe, everyone.

Just moments before the official opening of classes at Panay National High School, school operations were suspended following the strong 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck parts of Mindanao and was felt in the municipality.

Prioritizing the safety of learners, teachers, and personnel, school authorities immediately implemented precautionary measures while awaiting the results of safety assessments.

In response to the incident and upon the directive of MDRRMC Chairperson and Municipal Mayor Solly F. Villalobos, a Joint Inspection Team composed of representatives from the Municipal Engineering Office (MEO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) conducted inspections of school facilities.

The MDRRMO also facilitated coordination efforts with the barangay local government units (BLGUs) and the Department of Education (DepEd) to ensure an organized and efficient assessment process.

The inspection underscores the commitment of both the school and local government to disaster preparedness and the protection of the entire school community.

Panay National High School expresses its appreciation to LGU Sto. NiΓ±o for its swift response and dedication to ensuring that the school remains a safe place for learning.

The programs were designed to provide targeted remediation for students who struggle in reading and other key subject areas.

Through structured interventions, teachers worked closely with identified learners to address gaps in foundational literacy and academic competencies.

The culmination activity highlighted the progress of students who actively participated in the remediation sessions throughout the program period.

Panay National High School continues to strengthen its learner support systems to ensure that no student is left behind in achieving academic success.
