From May 18 to 21, 2026, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) โ La Union, through its Consumer Protection Division, conducted simultaneous price monitoring activities in various municipalities throughout the province.
The activity aimed to ensure that the prevailing prices of Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities (BNPCs), including rice, were being sold in accordance with the prescribed Suggested Retail Prices (SRP).
In light of recent petroleum price hikes brought about by global market developments, DTI La Union intensified its monitoring initiatives to assess and address the possible effects on the prices of essential goods. This effort demonstrates the agencyโs ongoing commitment to promoting price stability and protecting consumer interests.
Through these monitoring activities, DTI La Union seeks to prevent profiteering, ensure the continuous supply of essential commodities, and help preserve the purchasing power of consumers across the province.
