During the activity, the Electronic Business One-Stop Shop (e-BOSS) of Siaton, which enables business owners to process permits and licenses through a unified digital platform, was a major highlight. The integration of requirements into a single window, e-BOSS, significantly reduces processing time, limits face-to-face transactions, and enhances transparency in local governance. This was complemented by national digital platforms, including the DTIโs Business Name Registration System (BNRS) and online BMBE registration, as well as the BIRโs Online Registration and Update System (ORUS), eBIR, and ePay. Together, these tools provide entrepreneurs with faster, more efficient, and accessible ways to meet compliance requirements.
DTI emphasized the importance of the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) reforms, which streamline procedures, reduce documentary requirements, and introduce clear timelines for frontline services. DOLE, on the other hand, reminded participants of their obligations under basic labor standards, such as fair wages, working hours, benefits, occupational safety, and proper employment contracts, highlighting that compliance not only avoids penalties but also fosters a motivated and protected workforce. Meanwhile, BIR resource persons tackled recent reforms under the Ease of Paying Taxes Act (RA 11976), which removes the annual registration fee and expands filing and payment options for MSMEs. The discussions were capped with inputs from LGU partners on training, mentoring, financing, and market linkages to further support local enterprises.
Speakers included DTI representatives Maribel V. Sumanoy (SDD Chief), Shawn Kemp Ramirez (NC Provincial Coordinator), Barbi Jane Gadingan (NC South Area Coordinator), and Arlene Bantoto (NC Business Counselor); DOLE representative Evita Remoroza; BIR representatives Emily Paredes and Katrina Zerna; and BPLO Siaton through Brenda Ocarol and Catherine Catubay.
