In an order dated March 4, 2026, the Regional Trial Court of the City of Manila convicted a 33-year-old woman, alias "Wendy," for two counts of violation of Section 5 (d) of RA No. 12010 [Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (AFASA)], in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012) and sentenced her to pay a fine of Php100,000.00 per count.

"Wendy" was arrested on February 13, 2025, through an entrapment operation conducted by the Manila District Anti-Cybercrime Team (MDACT) for the illegal online sale of an e-wallet account.

PBGEN Wilson C. Asueta, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), lauded the EDACT for the court's conviction of their arrested individual. โ€œThis conviction is a warning that those involved in the illegal trade of e-wallets and financial accounts will be held accountable. The PNP ACG urges the public to safeguard their personal accounts and report any suspicious online transactions to the nearest ACG office,โ€ he said.
