PH CRIME DIPS FURTHER IN 2023
The Philippine National Police through its Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management Crime Research Analysis Center (CRAC) has released its highly anticipated report today, offering comparative insights into the state of crime in the country for the period covering January 1 to September 5 of 2022 and 2023.
In particular, the Index Crime Volume have shown a decrease of 2,514 cases which translates to 8.80% decline from 28,558 cases in 2022 to 26,044 cases in 2023. The top three most prevalent crimes for both years remained consistent with r**e, theft and physical injury.
Meantime, except for Homicide cases which logged an increase of 0.42% in 2023, cases of Murder, Physical Injury, R**e, Robbery, Theft and Carnapping decreased in number registering a drop of 8.79% in Focus Crimes, demonstrating an overall improvement in the safety of Filipinos.
PNP Chief, PGen Benjamin Acorda Jr., commended the efforts of the police force and stated, "I am pleased to see the continuing positive trends in our crime statistics. The decrease in crime rates reflects the hard work and dedication of our officers and the effectiveness of our police interventions and strategies. However, we will not become complacent. We will continue to strive for even greater peace and security for the Filipino people."
As the holiday season comes near, Chief, PNP Acorda have instructed all the Regional Directors to intensify its campaign against criminality to thwart the influx of street crimes.
