The Kabataang Silay Ensemble was established to preserve and showcase Silaynon and Filipino culture, but preservation has never meant keeping it behind museum glass or confined within screens. Our heritage lives in the everyday people who learn it, practice it, become curious about it, and freely share what they know.
Sometimes that means performing for people who have come from halfway across the world. Sometimes it means inviting them into the Tinikling, placing a rondalla instrument in their hands, and teaching them their first few notes.
From our friends from Hangout Language School on August 11 to the Japanese Sakuragao High School students of the IkawโAko Foundation on August 17, we are always happy to make a little more room for anyone who wants to come closer ๐ต๐ญ๐ฏ๐ต
