On January 22, 2026, at around 10:40 PM, a buy-bust operation was successfully conducted at Brgy. Lag-on, Daet, Camarines Norte, resulting in the arrest of a high-value individual. The operation was carried out through the combined efforts of the CNPIU/PPDEU, Daet MPS, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Camarines Norte PPO, CN MARPSTA, 503rd Maneuver Company, RMFB5, and Regional Intelligence Unit 5, in coordination with the PDEA ROV.

SERVICE BEYOND THE BADGE: PRO 5 BRINGS HOPE TO A 13-YEAR-OLD CHILD THROUGH CLEFT LIP CHEILOPLASTY SURGERY

Beyond its mandate to maintain peace and order, PRO 5, under the leadership of PBGEN Erosito N Miranda, ARD, continues to exemplify the true spirit of “Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman”—service that is swift, sincere, and deeply felt by the community.

This commitment was once again demonstrated through the compassion and dedication of the Camarines Sur 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company – Revitalized Pulis Sa Barangay (R-PSB) Team Salvacion, whose initiative transformed the life of Eden Beramira, a 13-year-old girl born with a cleft lip.

During an Enhanced Preventive Patrol in Zone 5, Barangay Salvacion, Tinambac, Camarines Sur, PLT Katherine M Guiriba and the R-PSB Team, in partnership with the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Salvacion, visited Eden’s home and met her parents—Mrs. Vilma Beramira, a full-time housewife, and Mr. Expedito Beramira, a subsistence farmer.

Eden, the youngest of eight siblings, grew up in extreme financial hardship. Due to fear, emotional distress, and the stigma surrounding her condition, she never attended formal schooling. Despite this, her eagerness to learn endured, and her siblings taught her basic reading and writing at home.

Deeply moved by her story, the team pursued long-term assistance by coordinating with the Philippine Band of Mercy in Quezon City, a reputable organization providing free corrective surgery for children with cleft lip and palate. Eden was scheduled for her pre-assessment on January 20, 2026.

The R-PSB Team fully assisted Mrs. Beramira in completing all documentary and medical requirements, including PhilHealth enrollment and government clearances, personally accompanying the family to ensure smooth processing. Recognizing the family’s financial limitations, PLT Guiriba mobilized support from stakeholders and sponsors, securing full financial assistance for transportation, accommodation, and meals.

On January 18, 2026, the members PLT Guiriba and PCpl Kriezelle Mae D Miranda, personally accompanied Eden and her sister to Quezon City. Eden successfully completed her pre-assessment on January 20, which included pediatric and surgical consultations, laboratory examinations, and antigen testing.

Today, January 22, 2026, Eden successfully underwent corrective surgery and is now recovering well, with discharge expected tomorrow. This milestone marks not only the healing of a physical condition but also the beginning of renewed confidence, hope, and opportunity for her future.

The R-PSB Team Salvacion will continue to accompany Eden and her family back to Tinambac, Camarines Sur, and will closely monitor her recovery to ensure proper post-operative care. Throughout the process, the team worked closely with Mrs. Marilyn Bo Corpuz, Head of Program and Services, and Mr. Ryan Panaligan, Medical Social Worker of the Philippine Band of Mercy, who provided guidance on post-operative care and access to support services.

This initiative reflects the true heart of police service—proving that beyond the badge and uniform, the police remain a pillar of compassion, partnership, and hope for those most in need. It attests to the kind of service that PRO 5, under the leadership of PBGEN Erosito N Miranda, ARD, continuously strives to provide to the people of Bicol: a Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas, anchored on Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman. # # #

GUN-RUNNING DEAL FOILED, HIGH POWERED FI****MS SEIZED IN MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE

Police operatives thwarted an alleged gun-running transaction and seized several high powered loose fi****ms during an entrapment operation in Barangay Dalumangcob, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte on Friday afternoon, January 16, 2026.

The operation, conducted at around 3:15 PM, was carried out against a male suspect in his 40s for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, involving the illegal sale of high powered fi****ms.

Joint elements of the RDEU–RSOG as lead unit, together with personnel from RIAT-RID, RMFB 14-A, PIU Maguindanao del Norte, 4th MP 1st PMFC, and the Sultan Kudarat Municipal Police Station, launched the operation following validated intelligence information that the suspect was actively engaged in gun-running activities.

With the assistance of a confidential informant, a buy-bust transaction was arranged. During the meeting inside the suspect’s vehicle, operatives were able to observe several fi****ms.

The suspect later became suspicious after noticing vehicles in the area which he believed to be police-owned, prompting him to abandon the vehicle and flee on foot toward nearby houses and vegetated areas. A pursuit operation was immediately conducted, but the suspect managed to evade arrest.

Despite the escape, operating troops, in the presence of representatives from the media and elected barangay officials, conducted a search of the abandoned vehicle and recovered several high-powered fi****ms, assorted magazines, live ammunition, a war belt, assorted identification cards, boodle money used in the operation, and the vehicle believed to have been used in the illegal transaction.

Acting Chief, Philippine National Police, PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the successful seizure underscores the PNP’s continuing campaign against loose fi****ms, particularly in areas vulnerable to armed violence.

“Ang mahalaga rito, naalis natin sa sirkulasyon ang mga baril na puwedeng gamitin sa krimen. Iyan ang konkretong hakbang para mapanatili ang katahimikan ng komunidad,” PLTGEN Nartatez said.

He added that efforts are ongoing to identify and locate those behind the illegal fi****ms trade.

“Hindi dito nagtatapos ang operasyon. Tuloy-tuloy ang imbestigasyon at operation para mahuli at papanagutin ang mga sangkot,” he said.

All seized fi****ms and ammunition were properly inventoried, marked, and tagged at the place of seizure in accordance with existing procedures and in the presence of required witnesses. The confiscated items will be forwarded to the Regional Forensic Unit–BARMM for qualitative and quantitative examination.

The PNP continues to urge the public to support law enforcement by reporting information related to illegal fi****ms, assuring that all reports will be treated with strict confidentiality.

𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: The key difference between a 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 and a 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲 lies in their forecast period, coverage areas, and accuracy. A 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 provides forecasts for the next three hours and applies up to the municipal level. It is more precise as it utilizes Doppler radar technology to track real-time rainfall intensity, making it highly effective for immediate decision-making in flood-prone areas. A 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲, on the other hand, covers a 24-hour period but is issued only at the provincial level. It provides a broader outlook on potential weather disturbances but lacks the short-term accuracy of 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬. For class suspensions or other official decisions, please refer to 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 issued by the respective PAGASA Regional Services Divisions.
