DISTRIBUTION OF DOLE LIVELIHOOD GOODS TO SOLO PARENT BENEFICIARIES

The Local Government Unit of Socorro, through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), successfully conducted the Distribution of Livelihood Goods on July 23, 2026, at the Municipal Gymnasium, Socorro, Surigao del Norte.

Through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), a total livelihood grant of โ‚ฑ2,976,513.00 was awarded to 71 Solo Parent beneficiaries, providing them with sustainable livelihood opportunities to improve their economic well-being and become more self-reliant.

Under this project: 33 Solo Parent beneficiaries received Sari-Sari Store livelihood goods; and 38 Solo Parent beneficiaries received rice stocks for Rice Retailing.

This initiative reflects the government's commitment to empowering solo parents by providing them with the necessary resources to establish and sustain income-generating enterprises that will help improve their families' quality of life.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Atty. Jason P. Balais - DOLE Caraga Regional Director, Ms. May C. Velonta - DOLE Surigao del Norte Field Office Head and the entire DOLE Family for your unwavering support and commitment to improving the lives of our Solo Parent beneficiaries through sustainable livelihood programs.

Our sincere appreciation also goes to Mr. Bernido Maloloy-on Jr., DOLE Livelihood Focal Person, and Ms. Reggae Mae Deberto, DOLE Livelihood Specialist, for your invaluable technical guidance, expertise, and unwavering assistance in the preparation, evaluation, and processing of the livelihood proposal. SOCORRO, Surigao del Norte โ€” The Municipality of Socorro marks another milestone as the first municipality in Surigao del Norte to receive livelihood assistance specifically intended for solo parents under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Livelihood Program.

A total of 71 qualified solo parents are set to receive livelihood assistance in the form of sari-sari store packages today, July 23, 2026, providing them with an opportunity to start their own small businesses and establish a sustainable source of income for their families. The livelihood packages are set to be formally turned over to the beneficiaries later today.

This significant initiative is made possible through the strong support of the Local Government Unit of Socorro, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Hon. Riza Rafonselle T. Timcang and Vice Mayor Hon. Dalisay G. Canta, together with the continued efforts of PESO Manager Engr. Dante Dizon, who helped facilitate the program for the municipalityโ€™s solo parents.

The LGU Socorro likewise extends its sincere gratitude to DOLE Livelihood Specialist Reggae Mae Deberto and DOLE Regional Director Atty. Jason Balais and May C. Velonta - DOLE SDN Field Office Head for their valuable assistance and support in bringing this livelihood opportunity to the 71 qualified beneficiaries.

Twenty-three (23) welding trainees from Socorro, Surigao del Norte underwent their Final Competency Assessment for Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I on July 16, 2026, at Kilometer 3, Barangay Osmeรฑa, Dapa, Surigao del Norte.

The trainees completed their training under Mr. Roberto J. Pelias, Jr., who guided them in developing the essential skills and competencies required in welding.

Among those who underwent the assessment were John Kirby Antigo, Glyster Kian Jualo, and Leoking Gelsano, together with 20 other trainees from Socorro.

The assessment marks an important milestone for the trainees as they work toward earning their TESDA National Certificate and gaining skills that can open doors to employment and livelihood opportunities.
