The Municipality of Sogod, Cebu, organized and elected the officers and members of the Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (MFARMC) on March 11–12, 2026.

BFAR-7 FARMC Operation Office facilitated the activity, led by Ms. Ionne Elena Villagonzalo (Chief of the Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Division) and her staff, in collaboration with the Cebu Provincial Fishery Office.

The conduct of the activity was made possible through the initiative and strong support of the Local Government Unit of Sogod, particularly the active facilitation of the Municipal Agriculture Officer. Fifteen (15) fisherfolk representatives from different fisherfolk associations attended the activity.

The highlight of the activity was the election of a new set of MFARMC officers and the formation of eight (8) FARMC Committees as part of the structural framework in accordance with Fisheries Administrative Order No. 196.

BFAR-7 is optimistic that these newly elected officers, now equipped with knowledge from the orientation, are ready to step up in shaping fisheries policy for the Municipality of Sogod.
